The case of carefully placed limited edition comic books toppled on top of me. With all the energy I had left, I attempted to jump out of harms way, but I wasn't slick enough. The lace of my untied sneaker got caught on something- I don't even know what- causing me to fall down face first into another display case. This time the glass shattered everywhere, causing my nose to start bleeding. The moans and groans of the unknown creatures started getting closer. I tried getting up but the 300 pound case full of comic books was crushing my left foot. The sounds of dragged foots and eerie moans were just a couple feet away. My escape seemed hopeless. But, I couldn't just die like this. I wouldn't just die like this....
Ronnie's P.O.V
"Ronnie!" Called out a squeaky voice, so squeaky that I knew it belonged to none other then Tara, one of my best friends. I looked up at her as she attempted to tame her ultra-straight black hair as a gust of wind came by. I looked into her brown eyes with confusion. "You were totally zoning out, come back to Earth please." Her and Lena, another best friend of mine (It may sound like I threw around the term best friend often, but I really didn't), broke out into excessive laughter, probably because of some other joke I didn't bother listening in on.
I realized we were sitting down under our famous Taco Cat tree, Tara's idea for a group name for us, tree in a triangle, but I had to restrain myself from cracking a joke about the "Illuminati", a subject we had lots of inside jokes about. Gym seemed like the time we'd always make the most inside jokes and the best memories, which was funny because we'd always complain about the cold Virginia air, and the fact that we had to dress out every single day.
"Also, don't look now, but Shane totally just grabbed a glance a you-" Lena paused, looking behind my shoulder. "He just got hit with a football!" Her and Tara broke out into another laughing fit, which caused me to crack a smirk.
"I'm dying!" Yelled Tara as she fell back, causing us all to lose it, and fall back, too. After five minutes we all managed to get back into our triangle and criss-crossed sitting positions.
"He really needs to hurry up and ask you out already, like, it's getting old." Lena blurted out. I rolled my eyes. "He's getting hit with balls because of you! Wait-" Lena tried to correct herself but she was too late. Tara and I started dying of laughter again. Lena tried to shut us up over out hooting and hollering, but no one could hear anything over Tara and I. Lena looked behind Tara.
"Claudia, can you stop drooling over Hector and shut these two up for a second!" Lena smirked at Claudia, yet another best friend of ours, who was, most likely, flirting with Hector, her nonofficial boyfriend. She stopped twirling her short curly black hair and looked over at us with a pissed off expression.
Claudia quickly ran over to us and grumpily sat down. "I was not drooling over Hector! I don't fucking like him, so shut up." She pushed Lena so hard that Lena did a summersault all the way back, causing her honey colored hair to become a home for every leaf in our area. She quickly regained her balance and ran back over to our group, slapping Claudia when she sat back down.
"Oh snap!" Tara exclaimed.
"More like oh slap! Get it?" I exclaimed back, causing Tara and I to, again, die laughing and Lena and Claudia to groan.
"Ronnie, your puns aren't funny." Claudia shot back.
"Oh no, I'm so hurt!" I mockingly cried out. Tara attempted to hold back her laugh, which she successfully did when Lena scowled at her. After that, there was silence. Not a tense kind of silence, more like the type of silence you have when your whole group of friends has just laughed for ten minutes straight.
"What if a gunman just came out of no where and started shooting everyone?" Tara blurted out.
"Or worse, the zombie apocalypse started." I called out.
