Far over the forest
In the dungeons deep
We must today
At the start of sleep
To bring upon the dreams of oldThe dreams they had
The dreams they forgot
The dreams they remembered
The dreams that were naught
But falsehoodsSo once in a dream
Our hero was told
To restore the esteem
Of his ancestors of oldSo right upon awakening
He set to work
And right upon awakening
He studied their worksHe soon found that his ancestors
Were ancient kings and queens
But only of a forgotten country
But of wit were quite keenSo far over the forest
In the dungeons deep
We must today
At the start of sleep
To bring upon the hopes of oldThese kings and queens
Were quite brave and kind
And when you dig deep
They were loved by all
Is what you shall findThe records that were kept
They were of ancient times
But alas kept they were
And now I sing of them in this rhymeFar over the forest
In the dungeons deep
We must today
At the start of sleep
To bring upon the plans of oldOur hero was told
By these records of old
That one day a demon may come
Asking for a bottle of wine
But you mustn't offer her someFor she is the demon of drunkenness
And she is quite the dipsomaniac
She will curse all she can
For that is her virtueFar over the forest
In the dungeons deep
We must today
At the start of sleep
To bring upon the ruins of oldThis demon
With her nasty spell
Cast our hero into a deep sleep
And in it
He saw the dream of his father before himThe dream of the ancients
The dream of the ruins
They all fell into place
The way that things doAnd once the hero woke
He knew how to defeat the demon witch
He knew to use his mind
His soul and his spirit
The reason why he is there
Was to defeat her
As his forefathers weren't able toSo with a quick slash
He rendered the demon slain
The ancestors applauded him
But then he disappearedFar over the forest
In the dungeons deep
We must today
At the start of sleep
Conclude the story of old

PoetryI wrote this based off of the songs from "The Lord of The Rings" series by J.R.R. Tolkien, and it's simply a little storytelling ballad reminding us all to hold our past with pensive reverence.
