Sunset

Day One: The Arrival

A cloudy day, Rain was peacefully at her side table drawing her favorite place where the sunset is most beautiful for her. Then she hears a car pull up to the house infront of theirs. She did not care at first because she thought that it is just a normal thing that their neighbor always does, which is to go to malls and travel. But when she overhear her parents downstairs talking about their new neighbor, she looked through her window which has a perfect view of the house infront of them.

What she saw was a car full of boxes and furnitures then she sees a boy somewhere near her age who stepped out of the car and helped his family carry some furnitures. When she saw this boy she had a feeling somewhere inside her where she wanted to be friends with this boy. So she goes downstairs and asked her mother if she knows something about the boy's family. And her mother explained to her that the boy is somewhere around 14 - 16 years old. Rain was a little overjoyed when she learned that she is probably the same age as the boy.

She went back upstairs to her room and peeked through the window as she sees the boy still helping them take some stuffs inside the house. A faint smile can be seen across Rain's lips but she goes back to drawing as Axel might see her and think that she's a creep. But when Rain was trying to draw, she it can be seen that she can't focus on her art. Something's bothering her about that boy. She feels like she can't wait to be his friend. But Rain just brushed it off, continuing her art.

********** 6 pm **********

Although Axel and his family still has a lot of furnitures and stuffs to arrange, they first organized the basic needs of a person. Axel's room is faced directly towards Rain's room. Thus, they're both visible whenever they open their window. Axel opened his window to get some fresh air inside his room which was pretty much empty. He only got his bed and table organized. At the same time, Rain opens her window too to get some fresh air. As she does so she sees Axel organizing everything in his room. Rain looks at Axel for a solid 10 seconds and then sits down on her chair afterwards. Rain's table and chair is just beside her window, meaning that she can see the outside and Axel very well whenever she sits down on her chair.

Though, Axel did not see Rain for the fact that he's too busy organizing his stuffs. After a few minutes, Axel was all done organizing his room. He also put his chair and table beside his window so he can have a clear view of the sky, and also to recieve some fresh air. But he still didn't notice Rain at the other house's window. But then Axel heard his mom calling out his name because the dinner's ready and his mom wanted all of them to have dinner together for the first meal in their new house.

When Axel goes downstairs, he saw that his mom cooked his favorite food which is sinigang. (a soup made with meat, shrimp, or fish and flavored with a sour ingredient such as tamarind or guava.) Rain saw that Axel is nowhere to be seen in his room. Some time later her mom also calls out her name because they were going to eat. A few minutes later Rain went back to her room to see Axel back on his room too. Rain couldn't understand herself, something inside her can't wait to be friends with Axel. After all, Rain doesn't have any guy Friends. Rain looks at Axel to see that he's looking back at her. Rain was taken aback by what's happening, she didn't expect him to look at her. So she just waved. She was more surprised to see that Axel waved back.
"He waved back?" As she thinks for herself. Later on that night, they both got into bed and peacefully slept through the night.

********** 5:00 am **********

Rain got up early because she wanted to see the sun rise up early in the morning. She woke up her cousin who is just in the room next to hers.

"Yana, quick. Do you wanna go and see the sun rise?" As Rain gently taps Yana's arm.

Yana mumbles something unintelligible, as she stretches out every muscle in her body.

"Y-yeah wait" Yana replies with a faint morning voice.

After hearing Yana's reply, Rain went back to her room and immediately opens the window. As she peeks out her window, the first thing she did was to check if Axel's awake. But to her disappointment, Axel's window is still closed shut.

"I take it that he's still asleep." As she quietly thinks to herself.

A few minutes has passed and Rain was about to check on Yana's room because she does not want to miss out the sunrise.
After all, they're going to their favorite place to hang out. The east view of the place can be described as a plain cliff with grass and a lot of plants and trees below it. The west view of the place however, is a plain cliff with some trees, plants, and grass below it also, the only difference is you can see a clear view of the city lines where the sun sets, also giving them a beautiful view of city lights at night.

"Let's go" says Yana as she peeks through Rain's door. So they both went downstairs and as they were closing the gate behind them, Rain took a look at Axel's window for one last time then Rain and Yana both walked away from their house and they were headed towards their favorite spot for sunrise and sunset. A few minutes later they got into their favorite place but they can see a silhouette of a person sitting in the spot where Rain and Yana always sit to see the sun. To Rain's surprise, she sees non other than Axel sitting on the spot where Rain and Yana always sits.

"What is he doing here?!" Rain silently panics for she was not expecting him to be in their favorite place. But all of a sudden, Yana's eyes are widened as she mumbles

"Axel?" As Rain and Yana stood still fr where they are as they both are not expecting Axel to be there. But Rain snaps out of it as she realizes that Yana mumbles the word Axel.

"W-what, who's Axel? Is it him? Do you guys know each other?" As Rain asks Yana.

"Y-Yana?" Axel mumbles back.
