Hermione walked into class with her eyes red and puffy. She had just seen Ron and a random girl kissing very intensely. Harry turned around when she walked in. He gave her a small smile and she returned it. Slughorn started teaching and they started a paper on potions. Ron came in late and his hair was a mess, his shirt untucked, his neck covered. Hermione sighed and started her paper. Why did he have to her make her feel this way? The affect he gave her lasted for what seemed ages. He could've walked into a room and left immediately but she still couldn't focus for a while. Ron sat right next to her and asked her what she was staring at. Hermione looked down and kept reading the book to find what she needed for her paper. Ron looked over at her book and paper. He opened to the page and took out a paper and quill. He leaned over to her and his breath gave her the chills as he breathed next to her neck. He asked her what exactly they were doing. She looked up and saw Slughorn helping someone so she told him. "We are writing a paper on what potions would be most helpful while fighting other wizards that we have learned this year." Ron nodded and flashed her a big smile that made her heart skip a beat. She bit her lip not knowing whether to ask her question. She looked around the room and tore off a piece of paper and wrote in it:

Want to go to the dance together? As friends of course.

She passed it to Ron and kept looking over at him waiting for a response. She tried to distract herself with reading and writing but she always found herself looking over. Ron held onto the note and tucked it inside his pocket. Hermione told herself that she was stupid to think he would say yes and scolded herself for giving the note to him. She was so pathetic.

Slughorn rang a bell. The bell meant that whatever they were working on had to come to a stop. It also meant that they needed to turn their papers in even if they didn't finish Slughorn told them that their homework was to brew a potion with a partner. Hermione looked around the room, looking for a partner. She thought about asking Ron but decided against it. She spotted Harry and quietly yelled "Harry!" He looked over at her and she asked him "Partners?" Harry nodded and walked over to her knowing that Slughorn would say to stand next to your partners. Ron got up and walked over to Dean. Slughorn looked at all the partners and nodded saying that they had made great choices. He dismissed them a 5 minutes before class was supposed to end.

Hermione had packed all her things and was waiting for Harry. When Harry was ready they started heading to the door. Ron was waiting at the door and stopped Hermione. Harry froze and looked at Hermione. She told him to go so he did.

"What do you want?" Hermione asked pretending to be annoyed but was secretly jumping inside that he had stopped her. Ron smirked and looked into her eyes. Hermione turned away and asked again "What do you want?"

"I would love to go to the dance with you." Hermione stopped breathing. She found herself smiling and was just about to speak when Ron said "But, I am already going with Harriet. You know her, right? Hufflepuff, blonde, tall, gorgeous."

The world stopped for Hermione. Before she knew what she was saying she blurted out "Go to hell and tell Harriet to join you." Ron looked down and played with his feet then walked out the door. Hermione took a deep breath then let the tears fall from her eyes. She sat on the floor with her eyes pouring out waterfalls. She looked at the time and saw that class was about to start so she ran and barely made it to her Defense against the Dark Arts class.
