Marilyn. It was an ok name, but I've never liked it very much. My mother named me after the one and only Marilyn Monroe. My mom is obsessed. Like really obsessed. Her room is full of DVDs Marilyn has starred in, magazines, posters, candy with her face advertised on it, and so much more. It reminded me of a teenager's room.
So, of course, she named her first born Marilyn. As for my two younger siblings... well let's just say they got names that are a little more 21st century than mine.
Madison, (we call her Maddy) is 14 years old with some attitude. She was named after the capital of Wisconsin because that is the lovely city where my parents met.
Matteo is 12 years old. My mom named just liked the name. At least that's what she told me.
Then there is my beautiful mom, Avery, who married my dad, Oliver Bennett. The Bennett family seems like you average modern family, which I'm pretty sure it is. Nothing has really happened since grandma died two weeks ago. Everything was quiet, still. Almost like something was about to happen.
Grandma's funeral was in two days. I wasn't very excited, because I mean, who would be? But I had to go. Maddy had refused to go because her and grandma were very close. It was heart breaking to her. My parents aren't making her go because they don't want her making a scene and ruining the funeral. I get it.

It was two a.m., and I still hadn't slept yet. I've been up reading a book I found when we were cleaning out grandma's house earlier in the day.
The book's title read "A Different Love". The book had no author which I thought was strange. It looked ancient. The book was 213 pages long, I finished about half of it until I decided to go get a drink from the kitchen.
I walked downstairs in my pajamas to the refrigerator. I saw something new hung up by a magnet on the fridge door. It was an invitation to my friend, Tommy's graduation party.
Come Celebrate the Graduation of Thomas Williams!
June 4th
12:00 - 4:00
Tommy has been my friend since I can remember. He is a year older than me and has always teased me for it. "I can run faster than you", "I get to fill my plate first", "I get to leave this stupid town with you stuck in it".
Okay, he didn't actually say the last one, but it sure seems like that's the case here. I don't want my best friend to leave, all I have left here is Caroline and Max. They are great an all though.
The party's date was set for the fourth and it was only the fifth of May right now. Tommy didn't leave until the twenty-sixth of August, so I was pretty happy hell be here a couple of more months.

It was the day before grandma's funeral and the family including Maddy set up for the funeral. Usually, I like decorating and setting up things for events, but today the theme was black. My mom ordered a special kind of flower they dipped in dye to make them black. We seriously couldn't have just had white roses?
I thought about the book I was reading last night. I remembered the faded look, the ancient smell, the fragile feeling. I knew I was going to keep that book forever. The story was amazing too, their forbidden love, secret talks, late night slow dancing in the empty ballroom. i was soon snapped out of my trance by a familiar voice.
"Marilyn," said my father. "Hm?" My dad looked down at his watch. "Would you grab three more chairs from the basement?" I had almost forgotten we were setting up for a funeral. "Sure thing."
As I walked down the stairs, I hear footsteps behind me. I looked behind me and I see Tommy. "What are you doing here?" I ask. "Thought we'd come by to help you guys set up. Is that a problem?" He joked. "Nah, I just didn't think this was how you wanted to spend your Saturday." I smirked. He just chuckled.

After we were all done, all of us went to Perkins to get supper. By all of us I mean the Bennetts and the Williams.
Tommy had one younger brother, Leo. He was an odd kid, but I think that's why Matteo liked him.
When we got to the restaurant, I slid into the booth and I ended up being in between Tommy and Maddy.
The conversation was somewhere in between the lines of Tommy's graduation and his new car, but I wasn't listening anymore because I was gazing out the window. There was a bee. I love bees. Everything about them. I love the color yellow, the buzzing sounds they make, the honey they make, their stripes, literally anything about them will make me stare for hours at a time to look at the beautiful creature.
Tommy catches me staring. "Hey, snap out of it bee girl We are clearly talking about me right now." He says sarcastically. "What if I don't want to talk about your boring major and try hard car?" "I never said you had to talk. Jist listen to my amazing voice." I snicker at his comment.
I almost fire back but then our charming waiter came back with our food. I decided it was best to keep quiet while I ate my flapjacks for supper.
