Chapter One
Hailey's P.O.V.
"MUM!!! Come on come on come on!" I yelled from the bottom of the stairs. One thing I don't get about my mother. So she wakes me up at 6 in the morning and all the while, constantly reminds me about the do's and dont's in Hogwarts. Honestly, it's not that much different from Beauxbatons so why tell me again?
"Calm down Hailey! We are early so we'll make it in time!" My sister Marie tried to reassure me.
"Oh yeah? Why didn't you tell Mom that when she woke us up at 6 am?" I asked her as I smiled and rolled my eyes.
"Well, you take long to just get annoyed enough to wake up and your trunk wasn't ready. Your school stuff was scattered around the house! Mom woke me up at 8 am. You know the thing called being prepared? In this case, you would have gotten more sleep!" Marie teased me. I stuck my tounge out at her just as mom called down the stairs.
"Ok I'm ready! Let me just get my bag." She said when she was finally done with whatever she was doing. Proabably just doing her make up. Being a veela, it doesn't matter if you have make up on or not! People find you gorgeous no matter what. She came downstairs with her Chanel bag and a beaming face. Yup, I was right. Her make up was perfectly set and obviously just placed on.
I ran out of the house and litterally bounced all the way to the road in front. We signaled the Knight Bus and withing a few seconds, the giant vehicle lumbered to where we were. It didn't look to stable but it surprisingly held itself together. I climber aboard.
" 'Ello Ms. Paige, other Ms.Paige, and younger Ms.Paige!" Said Stan Shunpike. He smiled at my mum as she gave him the amount of money for the ride. He tried to flex his muscles and look tough. A second later, he accidentally fell on top of Ernie and I stiffled a giggle. I never got tired of these acts of "manliness".
I gazed fixedly on the windows and stared at the scenery. At the speed the Knight bus was moving, it made the sky and Earth look morphed together like an abstract painting. All blurry with bright and vivid colors. It was either the speed or the fact that my eyes turned heavy and tried feebly to open. Soon, I slept dreamlessly and was awoken too soon by my sister.
"Hailey. Hailey! Wake up! People are seeing you drool!" She whispered. I woke up to that. I panickedly tried to wipe and feel for any dried or wet saliva. I looked at my sister questioningly but she was already off laughing at my gullibleness. I rolled my eyes and raced her to the platform.
I pushed my trolley in and I took my first glipse of the scarlet train. Parents and children rushed about hurriedly. I kissed my mother goodbye and ignored the stares at her and me. I found that kind of strange. I wasn't as stunning as my mother. I placed my owl, Destiny, and trunk up above and found a compartment. I didn't want to be late and have to have that awkward moment when you ask to share a compartment.
Stupidly, I looked out expecting plains and feilds or something. I remembered I was still in the platform and all I saw was a blank brick wall. I laughed at my idiocy and took out a book and began to read. I didn't know time had passed when three people around my age knocked on the compartment door.
"Hi. Um, can we have a seat in your compartment? Everywhere else is full or has some... um annoying people." A boy with red hair and freckles said. I nodded and returned to my book. I saw the wild eyes of the Banshee and imediately, I was afraid...
"Is that the book, 'My Life With Banshees' by Darrel Linkem?" A girl with bushy brown hair asked me. I was nervous. Was she going to make fun of me? What would I say?
"Yes it is." I replied quietly. Her eyes widened and she began to smile.
"Wow! I love those books. I mean, yes, the story isn't really accurate about banshees in real life but it is really captivating. Don't you agree? Oh, I'm sorry. We didn't introduce ourselves. I'm Hermione Granger. Thats Ron Weasly and Harry Potter." Hermione said gesturing to the two boys on the other side. Ron was obviously the red head. My eyes were locked on Harry. He seemed uncomfortable so I looked away.
"What year are you going to be in?" Ron asked. He was looking at me studiously. His eyes were wide and shining. He didn't seem to notice that he was gawking at me.
"5th. I'm a transferee from Beauxbatons." I told him with a smile. I hope I wasn't sending him wrong messages. I was just trying to be polite.
"Wow Beauxbatons! It's wonderful. What house do you hope to be in?" asked Hermione. I thought for a second. Gryffindor. I wasn't all too brave but that would be the best if somehow the Sorting Hat would let me.
"Gryffindor." I replied with a smile. They all smiled back.
"We are in Gryffindor too! It would be great if you could join. Gryffindors are the best." Ron said while Hermione nodded in agreement. I was beaming until a familiar taunting voice was heard.
"Best?" Someone scoffed " Best at having the longest losing streak." Said a boy with bleach blonde hair and deep blue eyes. It couldn't be.
"If you didn't know Malfoy with your head always in your butt, we won the house cup and beat you at quidditch. Why don't you run along to your mummy to cry now?" Harry said. Oh no it's Malfoy. I glared at him and stood up just as he was about to speak.
"Shut it Draco and leave." I said with acid in my tone. He turned to me and his glare softened. His deep blue eyes look at me pleadingly and hopefully.
"You know him?" Harry asked me shocked. I merely nodded but kept my eyes on Malfoy.
"Hailey. I didn't know you were here. Why did you leave Beauxbatons?" He asked me. His tone was nicer now. My glare didn't soften like his.
"Whatever I do doesn't concern you Draco. Go. Now." I said. The veela in me was already hissing. Yet, not so much in anger. More in pain. He looked as if he was about to speak then walked away and looked back twice until he was out of view." I groaned and sat down. Hermione took the seat next to me. She rubbed my arm sympathetically.
"How do you know Malfoy?" Hermione asked quietly. I looked at the three of them. They were curious and worried. I decided to tell them. I took a deep breath.
"Draco's mum and mine were best friends at Hogwarts. They used to hold little get togethers and Draco and I sort of became best friends after a while. We told eachother everything. Then one day, it all fell apart... I got Draco mad because I really insulted him with ... Something too personal... He then retorted by somehow blaming my father leaving our family because of me... And some how, it made sense to me. I was so mad and I was crying. He tried to apologize but I wouldn't let him. He tried to contact me and I would burn the letters. I forgot about him till today." I said.
I tried smiling to lighten the mood. Hermione and I went to go and change into our school robes. My mind was stuck on Draco. I never thought of meeting him again. I wanted to avoid him but at the same time I didn't... Gosh I HATE confusion!
