Infinite and Mephiles had searched the new dimension far and wide, looking everywhere for anything that sparked Mephiles' interest. But nothing. Not even Mephiles knew what he was looking for, but he insisted that he'd "know" once he finds it. Yet there wasn't anything. Mephiles shook his head and looked over at another rift, about to approach it, but Infinite stopped him.
"Why don't we enjoy ourselves a little?" he asked, taking Mephiles' hand, "Nobody will miss this place." The hedgehog thought about this, and a smug look appeared on his face.
"I don't see why not."

Infinite slowly lead the other into a waltz, one that Mephiles picked up easily. As they danced, Infinite used a bit of his power to explode something near them. The hedgehog noticed this and looked at the jackal, who wore a smug expression underneath his mask. He let out a small chuckle.
"You're good at this destruction stuff," Mephiles spoke, and the jackal laughed too.
"You could say I've been practicing."

The waltz continued on, Infinite exploding the environment around them as they danced. Mephiles felt the odd feeling in him grow, and his face felt tingly. Is this what they call... happiness? Was he enjoying this, but in a less maniacal way? He felt like laughing. And he did. He laughed, but not like he usually did. It sounded a lot more genuine, a lot more gentle. Infinite noticed this and couldn't help but smile and laugh too. He felt that he finally understood, and he liked that.

They slowed down just to stare at each other, the smoke of the explosions blanketing the floor and surrounding them.
"I think..." the hedgehog began to speak, "I think that I understand how I'm feeling..."
"And how are you feeling?" Infinite asked him.
"I'm... happy. You make me happy." He took a moment to take what he just said in. He just looked at Infinite, processing his emotions... then he laughed again. He laughed and picked up the jackal, spinning him happily. Infinite grinned as Mephiles put him back down, lifting his mask from his face.

"I want to tell you that more..." he spoke, "that you make me this happy."
"Then let's just say 'I love you'" Infinite suggested. Mephiles tilted his head. "That's how you're feeling. Love is a nice emotion, where someone makes you happy and well... you want to be with them."
"Then... I love you, Infinite. I love you." The hedgehog pulled the jackal in for a kiss, slowly removing his mask so he could put his arms around him. The other just held Mephiles' face gently, shutting his eyes. As they kissed, Infinite stretched an arm out and a surging ball of energy began to build up. He shot it into the last remaining building, exploding it into nothing. They parted eventually, still holding each other.
"I love you too, Mephiles." Infinite responded with a smile.

Terra sat Jet down on his bed and looked at him. They cooed in concern, and Jet sighed.
"I... I'm so stupid..." he lowered his face into his hands, "Of course I'm not worthy... I pulled a stunt like that..." He felt tears fall from his eyes, but he wiped them away and continued speaking with a choked voice. "Who knows how many families I devastated that day? I thought... I thought winning a battle was cool, since that's what you did to be worthy, but... but I just made everything worse..." Terra listened to him, nodding its head in understanding. Jet looked at it, tears still in his eyes. "I get it now... you helped people with what you did... I hurt them..."

Terra pulled Jet into a tight hug, and let him cry. Even people like Jet needed to cry sometimes.
"I'm a horrible person..." he sobbed. Terra shook its head. "I ruin everything..." Terra shook its head again. They cooed, getting Jet's attention.
'It's the intention that counts' they signed, 'not the action.'
"But I intended to feel better..." Jet responded. Terra paused for a moment.
'Maybe that is an exception.'

Jet groaned, falling and crying into a pillow. That didn't help at all. But what else was Terra supposed to say? They were fine with comforting people physically, but when it came to telling them things, it seemed to fall apart. Nothing it said ever worked to make someone feel better. They huffed through their nostrils and lay down too, looking at their brother. They sadly cooed, and Jet turned over to look at them.
"I know you're trying to make me feel better, Ra-Ra," he muttered, "and it's not really working as well as I'd want it to... but it's still helping." Terra shook its head and just curled up, feeling awful as well. Jet sighed and hugged them close, letting them cuddle up to him.
