Her earliest memories were of her father.

He was a tall man, in his mid 20's. Black hair, blue eyes, and a runner's build. Merrick Frost was always running, for days and days on end. From village to village, city to city, answering every request he was sent. The jobs were hard, but Luna's mother told her he loved the work, and the pay made sure Luna and her family lived a comfortable life. What was her father's job title?

Sorcerer.

Her mother was not born of magic. Meriel Frost had actually grown up thinking awfully of those who had powers. Those thoughts completely changed when she met Luna's father. Meriel was fairly short, with petite features and almost-white blond hair. She stayed at home with Luna, selling homegrown herbs and spices, like the other wives of hardworking village men. A small problem arose  with this business, and that was the fact that not many people bought spices from the wife of the magic user, as if anything the Frost's gave you was laced with some jinx or hex. If we were honest, the garden was more of a way to make Meriel feel useful than make money, Merrick's pay being enough for their family.

Luna had her own room in her home, a pleasure few children in Elwynn had. It was across the hall from her parent's, making it easy for her to race to her mom and dad's side during scary storms and such. Almost every piece of furniture in the home was made out of wood; the beds, bookshelves, shelves, and small desks all made of polished birch and oak. Luna loved her room, but with a never ending forest in her backyard, she spent whatever time she could outdoors. The woods around her village were perfect. She could explore for hours, except that usually led to her winding up in some other part of the village, and having to find her way home.

Elwynn wasn't the largest village, not by a long shot. It was a very closed off area, one road leading in and out of town. It's main resources were wood from the surrounding forest, and the crops produced from the fields chopping the trees down created. It wasn't the best place for large shops, but the few taverns that were in the village did exceedingly well. Schooling was offered for the children whose parents thought it necessary, but since Luna's family kept to themselves, her mother didn't think it best for her to attend. That, and the fact many kids didn't want to play with a warlock's daughter, she found as she grew older.

That didn't stop Meriel from teaching her daughter. When Benjamin Frost was born, Meriel spent her time indoors, teaching Luna how to read and write. When Luna turned 5, she could do some simple math and read the picture filled books her father bought in his travels. Her schooling slowly stopped when Meriel started to plant flowers in the garden that she tended to every day. Math and reading wasn't necessary to do chores, so their lessons ceased.

With no school for Luna to attend, and the fact she had explored the entire forest by the age of 5, her days quickly became long and quite dull. She would try to spend time rereading books to her baby brother, but the two year old's attention span made it so she couldn't read more than a page without him squirming or crying. She tried to help with baking, but after adding mint instead of oregano to a dinner, her mother said it'd probably be best for Luna to stay away from the kitchen. Luna was positive she was going to live the same life over and over every day.

Then, the Torlan's moved to the village.

Lilly Eve Torlan completely adored Luna and her family, despite every villager's input about their family being odd and magicians. Lilly Eve was the same age as Luna, and the two became inseparable. Luna was able to show her friend every inch of the forest, and it was as if she was rediscovering the woods again. She made up stories about the woods, which Lilly loved to listen to. The girls swapped picture books, the Torlan's having brought many from their old home in a city. Luna's love for reading expanded. Lilly Eve was also an amazing help with Benjamin. Being the only one who the two year old trusted with his toy soldier, Benjamin got along with Luna's friend, and always listened to every word Lilly said. They never talked about Luna's father or his work, which didn't matter to the six year olds.
