Tournament of Power

The team finally gets time to rest, and with the planet restored and everyone revived, the Z fighters get a chance to breathe. It's a few days after the Shadow Dragons, and the Grand Priest finally returns. The group gathers as the rules are re-stated. "The rules have changed slightly, so let me give you the new set. Each Universal team will consist of 10 fighters, and it will be an elimination based team free for all as per before. No killing, as you will be erased. You must knock an enemy out of the arena to ensure their elimination. Flying, fusing, and trying to re-enter the arena after elimination will cause your erasure, unless changed directly by Lord Zeno himself. The tournament was originally 48 minutes, but the time has been increased to 1 hour exactly. The universe with the most surviving members in play will be declared winner, and will get a wish granted by the Super Dragonballs. These are the final rules. I will await your decision of your 10 team members, as you will only have one day to prepare, but do make your choice now..." The team contemplates for a few minutes, and decides on this team. Raditz, Gohan, Kakarot, Vegeta, Trunks, Raunch, Goten, Piccolo, 17, and as they were going to make their final choice, a fleet arrives over Earth. Frieza and Cooler waste no time in landing on Earth and getting to West City. The tyrants seem to come in peace this time, as they declare their own entry into the Universe 7 team.

"Frieza, what do you mean? We have 9 members already..." Raditz remarks.
"Oh please, you think anyone in your team can match us...we've been training quite hard since the last we met, monkeys."
"Indeed, and while you might be strong, we're just as powerful...and this tournament sounds like the perfect chance to test our newfound strength!"
"Well, it seems you have your team of 10." The Grand Priest nods.
"Wait...who's going to be replaced?" Kakarot asks.
"I'll bow out...we don't need a Namekian when we have a whole team of Saiyans, an Android, and these two." Piccolo chooses to stay back now.
"Then it's decided. The Universe 7 team will consist of: Raditz, Gohan, Kakarot, Vegeta, Trunks, Raunch, Goten, Android #17, Frieza, and Cooler." The Priest re-states so everyone knows. "I suggest you get along with your team members to make your team even stronger." It's then that the Grand Priest notices the halos over Frieza and Cooler. "If your universe wins, I shall return you to true life." To which the brothers nod.

Once the Grand Priest leaves, the tension is high, but Cooler breaks the ice by extending his hand to Raditz. Raditz shakes it, and the team begins to talk, devising a plan among them all. The team decides it's best to stick to teams of 2, mostly staying on the defensive and being ready for anything. Meanwhile, Goten acquires the God form, and begins to train while in the form. The team gets a full 8 hours of sleep, and bright and early in the morning, Universe 7's team is whisked away to a void realm. Beerus, Whis, and the Supreme Kai are in the stands with them, alongside all 11 other Universes. 8 are fighting, and 4 are watching. They all get a chance to look at the other teams, a bunch of powerful fighters, heavy hitters, speedy warriors. Cabba rushes over to Vegeta and greets him, flanked shortly by two new saiyans, females, whom Cabba introduces as Kale and Caulifla. Vegeta feels something...odd in Kale, and mentions it.

"That one...she has a power locked deep inside of her...like a well of untapped power, beyond anything I've ever felt before."
"How would you know? What, are you some kind of psychic?" Caulifla retorts.
"C-Caulifla...please." Kale was much more timid than the fiery Caulifla.
"No no, Vegeta's right...Kale here has a lot of power yet to be unlocked...I feel like she's going to be a wild force in this tournament. Haha! I'm so excited." Classic Kakarot. Vegeta and Raditz share his feelings, their Saiyan blood is already boiling. "Oh, hey, let me teach you something before we begin...we're not foes just yet right?" With a cross look from Caulifla, who ultimately accepts, Kakarot teaches her, Kale, and Cabba how to read other people's ki...it'll come in handy in the Tournament.

"Attention one and all!" A voice booms out. Looking out to the void, it's the Grand Priest speaking. "As you are all aware, this is a fight for survival, for Super Dragonballs, and for Universal supremacy. As many of you can see, there's 4 Universes not participating...these 4 have the highest mortal life rate. The rest of you have the lowest...with Universe 7 being the lowest."
"No thanks to you Frieza." Vegeta remarks, which earns a cold chuckle from Frieza.
"Allow me to unveil...the Tournament of Power's grand arena!" And with a wave of his hand, the massive arena is unveiled. It's outright enormous, big as a planet, and it looks like it would hold billions of people. But this arena was made for just 80 warriors. "You will be given 10 minutes to prepare, but all warriors will make their way onto the arena grounds now!" All 8 teams head onto the arena, and spread out to the edges. Most teams are hyping themselves up...but U7 already has their game plan, and it seems like U11 has their game plan as well. Their team is mostly meditating and doing poses. Frieza is reminded fondly of the Ginyu force. However, there's one that stands out to them all...A larger male, with a gray head. Everyone's getting eerie vibes from him as he meditates. Those 10 minutes go by quickly, and the Grand Priest says. "Everyone ready? Let the Tournament of Power...BEGIN!"

Immediately, it's chaos, and the 8 teams are rushing off in various directions. Explosions hail down across the massive arena, and it all begins to turn to rubble fast. People dive in between the rising rubble and fights happen between the rocks. Kakarot and Vegeta find a pair of enemies that are firing beams down over the battlefield. Kakarot and Vegeta try to get shots in, but they're having to dodge the light beams too much. They piece it together and rush in tandem, giving the pair one too many targets. As its attention is divided, the two rush up to them, and the pair is knocked out of the ring. In another section, Gohan and Cooler meet Kale and Caulifla, as well as Basil from Universe 9. Basil is trying to swipe at the Saiyans and Cooler, to blind them so they will be easy knockouts. Cooler doesn't take too kindly to being attacked like this, and powers up from his 4th form into his final form. The powered up Cooler makes short work of Basil, firing him down through the whole stage to eliminate him. After that, Gohan has a round with Caulifla. Her wild and fervent nature give way to easily blocking and dodging her attacks. Gohan powers up to Super Saiyan, and the two female Saiyans are instantly caught up in it.

"Whoa...that's amazing. We saw Cabba do that, we didn't know others could do it!"
"That's...that's amazing, Mr. Gohan...can you...possibly teach us?"
"Oh, come on now, asking for favors from your opponents in a tournament for survival?!" Cooler scoffs at the idea, but Gohan agrees.
"Of course...now, my father and uncle, and even Vegeta would tell you anger and rage are the key...but in reality, you can access this form by focusing all your power on your center, and exploding it outwards." Caulifla's attempt was a first try, and she wastes no time in attacking Gohan, testing her new Super Saiyan might. Kale, sadly, can't do it, even on her 10th try. Cooler sees this and gets an idea. He approaches her.
"You see your friend...she got that power because she wanted to fight Gohan...she cares more for fighting than she cares about you." And this is more than enough of a spark for her to fly into a more rage filled Super Saiyan. She meets Gohan with a surprising amount of violence. Caulifla doesn't let up either, but she's cut off by Cooler.

On the other side of the arena, Universe 11 is holding off opponents from their heaviest hitter. That gray fellow was hiding all of his power. The tallest member of their team was their leader, and he was guiding his team to victory. They eliminate a few people themselves, and are able to hold off many more. That's when Frieza and Raditz arrive, merely approaching to check out this Gray warrior. The leader asks. "What do you want?"

"Who is this warrior you have?"
"This mighty Pride Trooper is Jiren the Grey. Our mightiest fighter, and more than enough of a match for anyone in this Tournament. I am the leader of the Pride Troopers, Toppo...you two must be Raditz and Frieza, correct? I've heard of you Frieza...a tyrant, a monster, cold hearted and cold blooded." Frieza laughs a bit.
"But of course. My mere presence should be enough to instill fear in you all..."
"We do not know fear, Frieza."
"Oh? Then watch this Tournament closely...I'll show you a fear beyond Death, and beyond Hell." Frieza turns to leave, and Raditz is slow to follow, but does so. Frieza then fires a Death Beam back at Toppo to test him. The big man blocks it with hand, with no damage to even his glove. "Quite strong indeed."

20 minutes have gone by at this point, and the numbers have thinned from 80 down to 50. Universe 2, 3, and 4 are almost fully eliminated, while others begin to whittle down. U7 and U11 are still at full power. It's at this point that the Pride Troopers switch their plan and begin to eliminate others one by one. From 50 to 45...from 45 to 40. Universes 2 and 4 are eliminated and erased. At the 30 minute mark, Jiren readies himself to fight, though Toppo keeps him back. Kale has unlocked and unleashed her Berserker form...some might call it Legendary. Gohan and Cooler eliminate Dyspo, with Gohan sacrificing himself to make the play. Trunks, Raunch, and Goten all end up eliminating a few themselves, including the 'warriors of love', lead by Ribrianne. Jiren slips away from the Pride Troopers and tests out the might of these Saiyans. Kale rushes him in her blind rage, and is taken out in one shot, launched away and knocked out, but not elim'd. Kakarot and Vegeta meet him and rush in. Their attacks do nothing to him up to SS4...but SS4 is making him move more than the normal forms. Then, Trunks and Raunch enter the fray. Four SS4s are making Jiren go on the defensive...but they all know their attacks are like flies buzzing around a T-Rex. Goten rushes in, but is met by Toppo. As the Super Saiyan God Goten fights with Toppo, it's clear he's no match...but then Goten gets an idea. He begins to purposefully take hits from Toppo, and uses his own healing powers to gain small powers boosts that he needs to power up again. Goten fires into the Blue version of God, SSG2. Now on an even field, Goten and Toppo fight at a very high level, the arena around them blasting apart as they battle. Raditz takes over fighting Jiren, his SSG2 form just enough to drive him back, forcing him to get a bit more serious.

40 minutes have passed, and at this point, most of the field has been destroyed and many have been eliminated. "I'm bored...Grand Priest, change the rules."
"Yeah yeah, change the rules, I want them to fly!"
"I want them to fuse!"
"Yeah yeah, I want them to fuse too!"
"Very well. Attention fighters! The rules have changed! Flight and Fusion have both been allowed!"

It's then that Raditz rises into the air to charge up a giant Spirit Bomb. The rest of the remaining fighters are brawling among each other now. Toppo manages to sneak an attack and knock Cooler out. Then he uses his GoD form, gifted to him by U11's Belmod. That form allows him to knock out Vegeta, Kakarot, Trunks, and even Raunch. Goten has to handle him, finding himself powering up more and more. Caulifla and Kale tap into their new power as well, both reaching SS2 in the time remaining to help out against Toppo. Then, Raditz throws his Spirit Bomb at Jiren...Jiren does the unthinkable, and launches the Spirit Bomb back with but a glare! The Spirit Bomb engulfs Raditz and he falls to the arena. U7 is shocked, and everyone's looking on in worry...and just before the Grand Priest calls him as being out, a powerful beam of light spires up from the arena rubble. The remaining Gods all stand, watching onward as Raditz rises from the rubble. Something...different is apparent, and his aura and look are all new. He's surrounded by a silverish aura, and his power is odd. It's both wavering, but staying quite stable. Raditz opens his eyes as Whis finally pieces it together for them all. "He actually did it...Raditz has tapped into a skill that not even Lord Beerus has attained. Ultra Instinct."

With this new form, this new...power, some of the Gods are shaken, and others simply can't fathom a mortal reaching this level. Belmod then says. "Hah, a mere mortal is entering the realm of us gods...and it's even an incomplete form, what a joke! Jiren won't have an issue fighting this."
"And all you're doing is running your mouth." Vegeta retorts. Belmod stands, as if he didn't hear Vegeta correctly. All of them watch as Raditz manages to slip in and out of attacks without so much as a thought. "Do you even listen to yourself? Just now you called it 'incomplete', which implies he hasn't fully mastered it yet." Toppo and Jiren can't land a hit on Radiz, even when Jiren's power creeps ever higher, shattering his own limits it seems, entering a realm no one else can seem to enter. Toppo is blindsided by a combined attack from Cooler and SSG2 Goten, and knocked out of the arena. It's Kale and Caulifla, Jiren, Cooler, Goten, and Raditz left, finally. Kale and Caulifla are taken out by Cooler and Goten's combined might, but it's clear those two are on their last leg each. "And if you're stupid enough to ignore the obvious implications of that, then I don't know where you get off calling yourself a God."

Universe 11's Angel scoffs. "You watch yourself, mortal." Belmod continues.
"Oho, come on, are you suggesting that he can master Ultra Instinct in the time he has left? Please." He laughs. "You're a fool! It's impossible."
"And you'd bet your life on that?" Vegeta quickly snaps back at Belmod, all while never looking at him, arms crossed in his usual stance. A brief flashback occurs in Vegeta's mind, over the last 55 or so minutes, to all the times he and the other Saiyans broke through and reached even greater heights. "1 hour...that's all we were given for this Tournament of Power, and in that timespan, we Saiyan warriors have shattered our limits, time after time..." Vegeta shoots Belmod a nasty glare. "You've seen it with your own eyes, Destroyer." Belmod glances up to Raditz, who has been launched into the air at this point. There's a hint of power welling up in Raditz, even as he falls. Belmod shouts down to Jiren.
"What are you waiting for?! Knock Raditz out of the Tournament and finish this!!" Jiren flies up into the air to meet the challenge.

Kakarot stands at this point to join Vegeta, both looking up to the one who's gotten them this far. "Come on Raditz! Find a way! We entrusted everything to you!"
"Our pride, our promises, everything! We won't tolerate failure! Trespass into the domain of the Gods, and use that might to conquer Jiren." Both shout.
"Do it RADITZ!!!"

And as Jiren is about to meet Raditz with a fully powered up strike, Raditz flips in the air and lets out a powerful shout, pushing Jiren back with just his aura. Raditz takes a deep breath and looks to Jiren, and is ready for war once more. Outnumbered 3 to 1, Cooler in his Golden form, and Goten in his SSG2 form, rise up to also meet the threat of this monstrous Jiren. All of them clash, Raditz reaching closer and closer to breaking through to a new level, while Goten and Cooler are keeping Jiren's attention, mostly. Closing in on the last minute, Raditz finally breaks through, reaching that mastered state, while Jiren breaks through his own limitation and powers up to his maximum as well. Goten blocks a powerful strike for both Raditz and Cooler. "Uncle...thank you...for everything...you've taught me a lot, and I've learned a lot from you." His barrier cracks as he holds back the blast. "And Cooler...the name fits...you really are a cool guy. Just know, you got a place with us in case Frieza ever acts up again."
"I do not need your sympathy Goten." Yet he used his name, instead of calling him Saiyan, or Monkey.
"Hehe...well, I guess I lose with this...uncle, Cooler, move, now!" The two worn out warriors manage to fly out of the way as the barrier finally shatters, and Goten is driven out of the arena. Now, it's up to Cooler and Raditz, who are on their last bit of power, to defeat Jiren. It takes their combined might, and combined minds, but they out maneuver Jiren, and, together, they use what strength they have left, Cooler down to his final form, and Raditz merely in Super Saiyan, to push Jiren through what's left of the arena, and out. All three are eliminated, but because Jiren was eliminated first, that means U11 has lost, and U7 has won! U11 is erased, leaving U7, and the 4 universes that did not compete, all that is left.

The Grand Priest presents the Super Dragonballs to U7, and as soon as they are, Frieza steps up to make a wish, but Cooler stops him. "It is not your wish to make, brother." Frieza is flabbergasted at this, but he steps back, turning his back to the others. As they think, the Zenos come down to celebrate, but upon seeing the somber faces of Raditz, Kakarot, and the others, they stop, and look worried.

Goten steps over. "Uncle, dad, can I make the wish?" Thinking for a moment, the two nod to Goten. He steps forward and boldly says. "I wish for all universes that have been erased, past and present, to be restored, and all beings within them revived!" The wish rings out loud and clear, and the Grand Priest, with a more sour look, turns and says the wish to the Super Dragon. With a mighty, time rending roar, the wish is complete, and all universes that participated in the ToP, and the universes destroyed by Lord Zeno before this point, are restored, reborn, and everyone within them, revived. Goten turns and hugs his dad, Kakarot returning that hug tight, proud of his son for becoming such a great hero. As a final gesture, the Grand Priest completes his promise to Cooler and Frieza, and revives them, the halos from atop their heads vanishing.

With the tournament over, and all universes restored and returned, U7 heads home, battered, beaten, bruised...but victorious. It's a great reunion back at home base, tears, smiles, hugs, laughs, and stories all around. Raditz breaks from the group, heading over to Cooler and Frieza as they are at their ship. He learns that Cooler is going to stay on Earth for a while, with his own Cooler Squad. Frieza feels no remorse and gets on his ship, flying off into the sky, and vanishing with his troops into space. Raditz hands Cooler a case of capsules so they can set up a base somewhere. With all that settled, the team takes a very long, much deserved nap...and the next day, a victory feast is held by Bulma and Chi-Chi, everyone on Earth invited! Whew, Cooler really lucked out, huh? However, even as this happens, Frieza is plotting his next move, and gets a nasty new idea...next time.
