Steve was a little blonde boy, and like all little boys he had a favorite toy. It was a small dark haired soldier with pretty blue eyes and a black uniform. He called him Bucky. Bucky was one of The Howling Commandos, Steves other group of toys. There was Dum Dum, who had a bowler hat and a big moustache, then Peggy who had bright red lips and dark brown wavy hair, the next one was Monty, then Gabe, Jim, and Frenchie. Bucky and the other Howling Commandos adored Steve and Steve adored them. Steve's next door neighbors had a kid named Johann Schmidt. Johann was greedy and had his toys which he called Hydra. More than once Johann had tried to take Bucky. They didn't like each other at all.

Steve takes Bucky to school for show and tell and holds him up to the class proudly, after he puts him in his backpack and grabs his lunch. When Steve's not looking Johann takes Bucky from Steve's backpack. When Steve gets home he rifles through his bag in search of Bucky. He runs to his mom crying when he can't find him. She holds him tightly and promises to help him search, when they search around and still can't find him she tells him to check at school the next day, after dinner she reads him a book and tucks him into bed. Once he's asleep the Howling Commandos stretch, free from the position they'd been in last.

"Where's Barnes?" Peggy asks Dum Dum who shrugs in response. They were all on Steve's desk. They all begin trying to figure out where he could be when suddenly Monty interrupts them.

"Schmidt has him!" He cries pointing to where Bucky stood in the the window across the alley, waving his arms frantically. The Commandos create a paper clip chain and try to get it to Bucky but its too short and falls. Bucky is startled when another toy comes up behind him and shoves him, he stumbles forward, landing on his hands and knees. He grabs the closest object which happened to be an envelope opener. Dum Dum and the other commandos watch in horror as the other toy pops Bucky's arm off, it goes to do worse damage when Johann turns on the light. Both toys freeze. When Johann finds them he disentangles them upon noticing Bucky's missing arm he throws him out the window like he was trash.

Steve finds Bucky on the porch the next morning. He shows the toy to his mother and she takes it to get its arm replaced. The man who fixes Bucky didn't have the proper arm so he replaces it with a metal looking one. Sarah Rogers thanks Arnim Zola and takes Bucky home to Steve the pair were reunited at last and had never been happier. Weeks later Johann and his family moved out and a new family with a little boy named Sam moved in. Steve and Sam's favorite thing to do together was play with their toys.
