'If you live to be a hundred, I want to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to line without you' -A.A. Milne
"What the fuck do you mean that someone shot her with an arrow?"
Alpha Tyler yelled at Cameron when he arrived at their home later the next morning.
"Exactly what I said, dad. We've been comprised. I don't know who or what is trying to kill us."
Cameron said as Essence huddled on the sofa beside him.
"That's it. You and Essence are coming home. I can't protect you when you're so far away."
Alpha Tyler said as he got up and started to pace the living room. That was a habit she had picked up over the years. They have been through a lot of highs and lows in the pack, but she wouldn't trade it for any other.
"Now dear, let's think about this logically. We have no proof that this was done intentionally, maybe we're overthinking. Could it be an archery lesson gone wrong?"
Summer asked as she was still in denial about the situation. Alpha Tyler got up and stood in front of her.
"Summer dear, someone just tried to turn our children into wolf-cabobs, that's not an accident."
Tyler said as she continued to pace the length of the room. She was so upset that she wanted to kill something... or someone.
"Summer dear, calm down. Rest assured that I'll get to the bottom of this soon. In the meantime, I'll assign more guards to patrol the area to make sure that both Essence and Cameron are safe."
Alpha Tyler said as Cameron nodded. It wasn't as if he could disagree with his Alpha. More than that he was his father (well technically adopted father but he had always treated like a real son, no less than Essence and Kye. Alpha Tyler was a force to be reckoned with when it came to the safety of his family and his pack.
"Whatever you think is best."
Cameron agreed as Alpha Tyler left to make the arrangements. Within an hour, a shift of 24-hour guards (all werewolves) were stationed outside of their apartment, (much to Cameron's dislike). After a few hours, Summer and Tyler went home.
"I thought they would never leave. I love them, they're our parents, but they would want to saddle us with protection. Mom must have thought us a million different battle strategies, we will be fine. Besides, I'm sure that we are capable of handling whatever threat together."
Essence said as she snuggled in bed beside him.

"We're so close."
Rowan said it as he looked at his sister Lulu. They knew what the couple next door was. They came to annihilate them. The galls of those werewolves, coming into the school, and their communities pretending to be human. But they knew the truth. Their parents had been murdered by people (and they use this word very lightly) like them. They were an abomination that should have never been created.
"I know we will get them, next time bro. Don't you worry? I promise that we will have our vengeance."
Lulu said as Rowan studied them in the mirror. They had their hidden arrow and bullets made of silver. Had enrolled in New York college for this exact reason. Luckily for them, their target was just about both of them. It seemed that the direct approach wasn't working out well, maybe now it was time to take them apart from the inside out.
"So let me get the plan straight. Are you sure this is home we should go about it?"
Lulu asked as Rowan nodded.
"I'm sure they would never know what hit them."
Ron said confidently as little, not trusting her brother. The next day they would put their plan in motion. One of the most famous laws of Tan Szu was to know thy enemy.

The first day of class arrived and Cameron waited impatiently on Essence.
"Essence let's go. You're going to be late."
Cameron warrant as he saw her hopping out of the room, trying to put on a shoe while trying to finish eating her toast. She finished the test by putting on her shoes and then eating her toast. Can I walk up to her and used the rubber band on his hand to catch up her hair? She started to his blue eyes wanting desperately to finish what they had been last night.
"Stop giving me those f*ck-me-eyes. I might ignore the fact that we have passed in 5 minutes and take you mercilessly against this wall."
Precise Cameron warned as he took in her appearance. She was in shorts and a t-shirt with the word fuck-a-Licious written across it.
"Is that a promise?"
Essence acts of Cameron slapped her on her ass.
"You best believe it."
Cameron said as they smiled and made their way downstairs to the car.
"Hey, can you possibly give us a ride? I'm late for my business ethics class."
Lulu said as Cameron looked at Essence, and she nodded giving her consent. Cameron hello to Lulu to get in the back and make their way to school. Throughout the drive the hears on the back of Essence's neck prickled. She had a bad feeling. Her hand clutched Cameron's hand, she felt like their life was in danger. 'Was she overreacting?' Essence thought to her and dismissed it. No, she was never wrong. When she was younger she didn't trust the feeling and it had gotten her kidnapped and almost killed by her psychopathic grandfather. 'so why was she picking up the same vibe from these two random strangers, unless they weren't random strangers at all.'
"Are you okay?"
Cameron asks as he filled her panic and distress through the mate bond. 'I have a bad feeling.' Essence said it as Cameron pulled into school.
"You two go on ahead."
Cameron instructed as Rowan and Lulu exited the car. As soon as the door closed, Cameron focused his attention on Essence.
"What is it, did you have another premonition?"
Cameron accessed Essence and started sweating bullets.
"I saw death, dead werewolves, mom, dad, Aunt Autumn uncle Logan and Emily, and lots of other werewolves all pile in a heat dying dead, so where are you, Cameron? Something is coming."
Essence said that she crawled over the seat and into Cameron's arms.
"I promise you this. Andrew, no matter what happens I will protect us from that future."
Cameron said as he took out the phone and call Alpha Logan, relaying the details.
"Are you sure you two don't want to come back home? I mean you've had an arrow shot at you, and no Essence is having premonitions of death and gloom. You know I love you both, you are my children. You don't have to go to college for us to hand over the pack to you. Your father and I will teach you everything you both need to know."
Alpha Logan pleaded as Essence shook her head.
"You didn't raise a coward. I'm an alpha. I will not run away from anything or anyone."
Essence said as Cameron pulls her closer. 'Damn you loved that woman.' he thought. If it wasn't for the gravity of the situation he would have carried out his carnal urges right there and then.
"No one can accuse you of being a coward Essy. We just want the both of you safe."
Alpha Logan said as Essence walked over to them and hugged them. He would move heaven and earth to ensure they were safe.
