I hold the silver tin can to my ear and laughed.
Malia wanted to do the speaking into a cup thing, you know where you put a string in the cups and speak into them. I called her crazy at first, but she convinced me to try it with her.
So, I did.
Now here we are.
"We are too old for this."
I spoke back, "We're never too old for anything."
She was enjoying this as much as I am.
"I miss you," I said and she looked over at me from across our windows.
She was smiling at me and I smiled right back.
"I miss you too."
I seriously want to go over to her place and kiss her. I can't be away from her for more than a whole day. Shit, maybe even two hours or even one.
"Malia, I l—" I'm cut off when my bedroom door opens.
Maddie walks into my bedroom with papers in her hand.
That's my cue to leave.
I quickly dropped the tin can and closed the curtains. Maddie gave me a look before she greeted me and then started to ramble.
"My parents are finally getting a divorce," Maddie said as she handed me some papers and threw herself on my bed.
I raised my eyebrows at her, "Seriously?" I even looked down at the papers and started to read them. Both signatures of her mom and dad are printed on it.
