Love is Toxic and Deadly

There's nothing more sweet or innocent than a human child.
A single touch could melt your heart...
At least that's how I used to think from the start...

It happened when I found a door, old and made of wood.
I activated it, opened it, and in a room I stood.
A little blonde girl grabbed one of my legs, giggling and grinning.
Befriending a human? Wouldn't that be sinning?
She was warm, happy, and glee.
There was only her in my world, the rest was foggy.

Every night I visited her in the orphanage.
Each time I came she gave me more courage.
After a while, I became like her own monster father.
While she became my own human daughter.
But that didn't last very long
Something tragic happened one night, everything went wrong...

While me and her talked, the orphanage owners spotted me...I had been caught...
The man had a shotgun, he aimed and took his shot.
A long bang echoed the room, and from behind I heard a high-pitched yelp...
It felt like I got hit by a train once I heard that sound, nothing could help...
The owners ran in fear, calling the police while outside they were trampling the mud.
The girl fell in my arms, her stomach and her indigo nightgown soaked in blood...
I tried to keep her alive, but no avail
"I love you, dad..." she exhaled.
I heard her draw her last breath, death snatched her away like a thief...
I could barely keep myself together as I let out sobs of anguish and grief...

A year after, I became CEO and concocted a lie that even made MY skin crawl.
A fib to protect humans and monsters once and for all...

There's nothing more toxic or deadly than a human child.
