For the next few days, Arya got tours of district 13, and met Katniss, Beetee, and President Coin. She was given off friendly vibes from Katniss and Beetee, but Coin's interactions with her felt off.
"President Coin, this is Arya Green, one of the two female victors from district 7. Remember to be respectful, this is Johanna's lover." Plutarch whispered to Coin, just loud enough for Arya to hear.
"What?! How do you know that?" Arya exclaimed.
"You don't deny it." Coin pointed out, to which Arya glared at her. "No, but I want to know." "Well, it's quite obvious, but for example, your reaction to finding out that Johanna was possibly being hurt." Coin answered in-a-matter-of-fact voice, folding her hands on the table, and looking for a response.
Arya had to bite her tongue from making a smart response, but said nothing. "Anyway, we will be getting them out shortly, so there'll be no need to-"
Coin was stopped mid sentence by the screens near her lighting up, and showing Peeta Mallark's face. It looked like he was bruised, but he was still communicating with Caesar normally, almost like he wasn't in pain.
"First off, you have to understand that when you're in the Games, you only get one wish. It's very costly."
Arya's mouth was slightly open, but Coin and Plutarch paid no attention, as they were both suddenly busy typing out commands, notes, and documents, so she quietly slipped out of the room without being noticed.
She walked back to her room in silence, thinking about Peeta's words. They were true, and painfully so.
But in the back of her mind, she was thinking about Johanna. Why wasn't she shown or interviewed? Was it because she was too badly hurt?
Her feet changed direction back to the control room, but when she peered in, it was empty. Arya finally realized that she had been standing outside of her room for a while, so obviously Coin and Plutarch had already left.
She sat down at one of the counters and started clicking through one of the files, until she found one labeled, 'Johanna, Peeta, and Snow.'
She clicked on it, and saw a video pop up.
The three of them stood center screen, all dressed in white, with Johanna showing rather a lot of skin, Snow and Peeta wearing suits, and Johanna and Peeta standing on either side of Snow.
Then he began to speak.
"From this great nation, never have we been more unified. Because, now, more than ever, Panem is speaking with one voice. The Capitol and the districts bound together in solidarity. Together..."
Suddenly, it began to break off, with Beetee's voice telling viewers that the mockingjay lives. Arya checked the date for the clip, and saw that it was aired during the time that she was unconscious, and wondered why nobody had thought enough to tell her about the viewing, as Johanna was in it.
Even though both she and Peeta looked alright, she was still worried. Of course, they'd use make-up and fancy outfits to make the Capitol people believe that everything was okay behind the camera, when really, it wasn't.
Arya got changed into a baggy, gray, short sleeve shirt, with matching baggy pants. She put her hair down and fell onto her bed.
The next few days were rather uneventful, with a couple of visits from Finnick, Colton, and Oakley. Katniss agreed to become the Mockingjay, the face of the rebellion, which Arya had already thought she was, otherwise, why did Johanna risk her life for her in the arena?
Arya stayed in her room for most of the day, but however, when she was getting ready to go down to the dining room, the screens flickered on, and once again showed Peeta in an interview with Caesar.
Arya paid no attention to his words as she got dressed into district's 13 gray jumpsuit and put her hair up into a bun, until she heard the word: kill.
