The story of A Hospital Christmas Eve by; Jordan Ree Poland
So, my mom works at a hospital. Thats, actually a big part of the story. I tried visiting my dad for Christmas but, he lives to far away, my older sister and brothers are with him right now. I'll see him in two or three days. I'm trying to sneak away from the children's waiting room so, I can rome around the hospital. I think my mom has a few patients to see. She's gonna text me when shes done. Its kinda difficult to get outta the waiting room because, theres a few adults watching the kids. That got me a little mad because i'm fourteen, i bet that is worthy of a little walking around time. Without thinking, I'd just said; my mom texted me it was time to go.[ it was't ]
I got out, it felt like getting out of jail. I started to sneak around pediatrics, and saw my friend Michael in one of the beds, he had appendicitis. And it was Christmas Eve! I sat with him and we talked, he desperately wanted to sneak away and rome around this hospital with me. I told him to tell his nurse he was going to the bathroom. Well, that backfired she said; he had five minutes. So, I told her my mother has a Christmas present for him and she would like to give it to him in person, it won't take long. The nurse smiled and saiid; aw, how sweet be quick, but if she is with a patient don't interrupt. We agreed and scurried off. We didn't exactly scurry, we had to pull around the metal pole holding his iv bag. We were having a lot of fun. He wasn't supposed to eat before surgery, So, I gloated and ate a brownie. We took some selfies and rode on gurneys. We made our way to a wing of the hospital we'd had never seen before. It was odd how different that part of the hospital was from the other ones. I grabbed us two rolly chairs and we started on our journey. I was getting cold and a little scared, but, we traveled onward. We saw our mom talking to Michael's nurse. We, full fledge went frozen, he grabbed me and pulled me into the janitors closet. We were freaking out, a few steps came towards us. A voice asked for a mop because a small child had threw up. I cracked open the door and gave his nurse a mop. She peered through the crack and grabbed my arm. She didn't see Michael, she pulled back into the kid's waiting room. Apparently, I was in trouble. Michael was following us, he looked at me through the window and sent me a text saying; pretend to lose a contact lens, and ask for water. I took his advice and bent down and said; Oh my gosh! I think I lost a contact lens!
Oh, found it! May, I goto the bathroom and put it back it? She looked at me with a snottish expression on her face and said; fine. Michael mouthed yes! Through the glass. I had gotten out, he said; isn't it nice being friends with a genius? I said; sure. We had made our way to the E.R. and started looking around for something to do. We walked past, a guy with a fork in his arm and started making conversation with him. He told us never tell your fiancé that her feet look big in her new heels. I had to laugh, my mom saw Michael in the E.R. and she ran and grabbed him. The only reason she didn't see me was because, I was on the floor looking for my phone I had dropped. She was asked him why wasn't he in his bed. He told her he wanted to talk to his "uncle" with the fork in his arm. I had to admire the skill he had at being calm in these situations. I walked slowly behind them and her my mom ask him if he was friends with her daughter. He said; Yeah, were really close. And we are best friends. I was tiptoeing a couple of feet behind them, humming the pink panther song. After, she took him back to his bed I sat with him, he said; were seriously singing the pink panther them song? I answered with a serious face, apparently, you don't understand culture these days. We talked for a while, at eight-thirty they turn out the lights. I moved next to him, turned on my phone and went to youtube. We must've watched cat videos for an hour. He reached over and asked me if I wanted to kiss, I was speechless and then, he hands me a Hershey kiss! We both started laughing like crazy. A few minutes, later they took Michael into surgery. He was getting his appendix taken out. Before, they took him he gave me a hug and whispered Merry Christmas Eve. I waited for hours for him to get out of surgery. When, he got out I was really exited to see him, he showed me his new scar, it looked very cool. My mom had to check on Michael to see how he was doing, I was sitting at the foot of his bed playing twenty questions with him when my mom showed up. She looked and smiled, I was expecting her to yell for me to got back to that awful waiting room. She whispered something to Michael, I think she said; something like be nice to her. He nodded. My mom told me it was time to leave, Michael was her last patient. I had to admit I was sad to leave, but, he lives in the same apartment complex thing we do. I gave him a hug goodbye and he handed me another chocolate kiss. Without thinking I pecked him on the cheek. I started walking out and when I turned around he was smiling so big. My mom was laughing like crazy. I guess that's the end to my Hospital Christmas Eve Story. The moral of this story is; don't tell people they don't look good in shoes. You might end up with a fork in your arm.
