Marci's POV:
The next day...
I remained tucked under my comforter awake since 9:00 am... it was already past noon and I had no motivation to leave my room — not because I was afraid of running into Heidi (she had left last night, staying with another friend. I could care less about the details), but because I just didn't feel like it. I didn't want to take part in life just yet, and I thought I deserved a little moment of grieving.
What I was grieving, I wasn't exactly sure yet — betrayal of a friend? betrayal of my boyfriend? Yes, but there was something else that I just couldn't seem to pin.
I slammed my pillow over my head as a the same 3 memories from last night recycled in my head: when I walked in on Stephan and Heidi, Nikki's face after I kissed him, and when I met Nikki's mistress.
I wished for it all to just go away — I didn't want to deal with any of it. If I stayed in bed, I wouldn't have to.
*Knock. knock*
Ughh!
"Marci, It's Carrie! I made pancakes! Hon, you need to eat something."
The second carrie said pancakes, my stomach grumbled. Crap.
"Okay, um... I'll be out in a minute." I managed. I hated how easily I caved, but I was starving.
I put on my glasses, then took them off (I preferred the world be blurry) before wandering down the short hall and stopping in the kitchen.
"There's the sleepy head!" Carrie exclaimed when she saw me. "Go sit down, I'll serve you."
"Thanks Carrie." I sat down at the kitchen table beside Drew, who was looking at me like some kind of odd animal at the zoo.
Drew poked me. "How're you holding up?" she asked and Carrie shot her daggers.
"What? I'm just checking on her. Come on, we can't ignore what happened last night." Drew was right, the walking on eggshells wasn't helping anything.
"Drew, we should at least wait until Marci feels up to talking about it." Carrie shot back in her stern, but sweet teacher voice.
The two of them continued to argue like I wasn't even there. "Guys I'm fine... I think."
Carrie set down a plate of pancakes in front of me then joined us at the table.
"Alright, whenever you want to talk, we're here to listen..." Carrie paused, then her eyes darted to Drew. "Right Drew?"
"Yeah yeah. What Carrie said."
I forked at my pancakes. "Thanks."
Carries pancakes were actually really good; I think I needed the sugar. Nothing better than carbs after a break up I supposed.
"Hey, where did you end up driving off to last night?" Drew probed and I almost choked.
"Uh..."
Drew quirked her eyebrow at me "uh?" she mocked. Carrie had an equally bewildered expression on her face.
I set my fork down. I no longer felt hungry.
"Well, I kinda stopped by... Nikki's?"
The truth was if I didn't confess what happened between Nikki and I, I felt like I was going to explode.
Carrie's eyes immediately bugged out of her skull when I mentioned Nikki, while Drew's expression stayed frozen.
"What do you mean you went to Nikki's?" Drew squinted at me accusingly.
