Not Steve Harrington.

Part 9: The Upside Down

     Steve had been gone for a bit. We were all starting to get antsy. "Alright I'm going in." Nancy said and started taking off her jacket. "What No?" Robin looked at her confused and Nancy gave her a grin and jumped off the boat. Shit.  A few more minutes went by and neither Steve or Nancy had come back up yet. "That's it. I'm going in too." My eyes got wide. "What? No what happened to Nancy being in charge." She smiled. "I lied." And just like that she went under water. "No No No! Aw shit! SHIT!" I exclaimed panicked. Alright well, I couldn't be the only one left. I tried to jump off the boat, but I fucked up my footing and fell. "AGH SHIT!" I fell into the water and swam down. I wasn't hard the find the gate. One I found it I climbed through and fell straight down. Screaming the whole way.

     "SHIT!" Steve was fighting these weird ass looking bats. Nancy and Robin were swinging things and hitting them too. I picked up a piece of wood on the ground and started swinging. One of the bats flew towards Steve and he reached up and grabbed it. He fought it for a bit  before biting it's head. Woah. Now that was Metal. For a second, it seemed like they'd left us alone. "We got this guys!" Robin exclaimed and as we were all looking up, a swarm of those hellbats were coming straight for us. "Yeah I don't think so.." I looked back at the group. Nancy and Robin were all dirty but unharmed. Steve on the other hand, was shirtless and bleeding. The bats had bit his chest and wrapped around his neck leaving a mark. Fuck. I was staring, I know I was. Steve was attractive, there was no doubt about that. Every girl in Hawkins wanted him, but who knew he was such a badass. "We gotta get out of here! Run, Run!" Steve yelled out and snapped me out of my trance. I ran after him, Nancy, and Robin. We soon found a safe place to stop at. I was damn near hyperventilating by the time we got there. I looked up at Steve and I couldn't take it anymore. I took off my vest and tossed it to him. "Pure modesty dude." I looked away as he put it on. We wandered away from the group for a minute. Nancy and Robin were gonna go see if they could find a way out of here.

     Eddie and I had walked off. "Ya know, Harrington. Nancy jumped off the boat after you and didn't think twice about it." He put a hand on my shoulder. "I'm just saying I wasn't going to jump in that water to save your ass." I chuckled a bit. Sounds about right. He paused and looked at me, our faces were close. "I guess I got a little jealous, Steve. I mean I wish I had someone to do that for me." His voice trailed off and I found myself staring at his lips. They looked so soft. "Yeah.." My voice trailed off before I realized what I was doing. Shit. What the fuck was I doing? Why was I staring at Eddie's lips? "Steve..?" Eddie looked at me confused. "Dude are you listening?" I shook my head. "Yea no, I'm good. Let's just find Robin and Nance." I shined my light and moved forwards. What the fuck? I am not into guys. Not at all. Not me. 

     After a while we stumbled onto the Wheeler's House. We both looked at each other confused before walking up the steps and entering the house. "Robin? Nancy?" I called out. "We're in the living room!" I heard Nancy's voice and I made my way to them. "You guys alright?" They both nodded. "I think we might have a way out." Robin looked up at the chandelier. She ran her hand through this gold dust. It looked like what you'd imagine fair dust to look like. It sparkled around her fingers as she wrote out hi. Then we all heard a family voice. "Did you find Eddie and Steve?" It was Dustin. His voice sounded faint but all around us. "Yep, they're here. Now how do we get out?" That's when Dustin Explained that he though all the murder sites were gates to the real world from the Upside Down. "Alright so we go to Eddie's Trailer then?" I looked at the group for reassurance. They all nodded. "Met us there guys." And with that we went back outside. "Wait how are we gonna get there?" Robin looked at us confused. "Nance, you've always had bikes right?" She nodded and went to retrieve them. We each took a bike and began pedaling.

     After a bit, we arrived and ran inside Eddie's trailer. And just as Dustin had said, their was a gate on the ceiling. Then something looked like it was coming through it. We all backed up. Then a stick broke through and we could see the kids. "Guys! Are you there!" It was Dustin. "Yeah! We're here!" I yelled back and looked at the group. "So who's going first?" Nancy walked forward and we lifted her up through the gate. She made it through just fine. "So who's next?"
