to ease me to sleep.
knowing sleep was my achilles heal.

but i knew you were enticed
as you kissed me gently
whilst blowing smoke through your teeth.
to further intoxicate me
i don't know if you love me,
but i knew you felt something
as you coddled me with words
during the hyperventilating.
knowing it would sober me.
i don't know if you love me,
but i knew you'd fight for me.
because you knew i couldn't
stand up for myself.
you knew i was too gentle.
i don't know if you love me,
but i know you made me feel it.
as you touched me,
as you talked to me,
as you were with me.
but all i can hope,
is that you did love me
