Charlie POV:

I woke up the next morning and sat up in my bed, I heard talking downstairs, I looked at my window, still in its grimy state. I got dressed and walked down stairs.

"Good morning Charlie." Beatrice said smiling when she saw me walk into the kitchen, and i smiled and nodded a hello. "Your mother told me about your room, I heard you have a dirty window, if that's okay I'll go and clean it up today." She continued "Yes thank you."

I walked over to the pantry in the kitchen where Isa was getting some things for breakfast "Oh good morning Charlie, how can I help you?" She smiled

"Could I just have a piece of bread?" She looked at me with confusion and she handed me a piece of bread. I ran upstairs and into my bedroom, I walked over to the box and opened it..."..water!..she needs water.." I put the piece of bread inside the box where Ruby was running around.

I closed the box and walked downstairs again.

"Uh...Isa?.." She turned to me and smiled 'Yes?"

"Do you.. Have anything to put water in?" She looked at me with confusion, "What for dearie?"

"Um...Well I have a pet mouse in my room and it need water but I don't have anything to put it in.." I replied a but worried about getting told off, but Isa's eyes lit up and she smiled "Of course, I'll go upstairs in a minute and get you something." She smiled "Thank you!" I turned and ran up the stairs.

I sat by the box Ruby playing in the grass, then I heard a knock at the door, I stood up and walked to the door opening it "Isa! Come in." She walked in and walked towards the box and she handed me a perfect little porcaline dolls cup with water in it, I kneeled next to the box and put the porcaline cup inside the box in the corner and Ruby ran over to it and drank some of the water, "Awh she's so cute!" Isa said her eyes shining with happiness, "I found her in Maddisons room and took her in, her name is Ruby." I smiled looking at Isa, she smiled walking towards the door then she turned "If you want I'll help you look after her. Oh and I'll get Beatrice to clean this window of yours." She stated and walked out closing the door behind her.

The grandfather clock struck 2pm and there was a knock at the door, and mother and father walked out of the kitchen and towards the door, Maddison didn't seem bothered about the person or people at the door she just sat there and played with her food... "Maddison?.." She ignored me not even giving me eye contact, I stood up and walked towards the stairs hiding a little looking at the strangers at the door, a girl younger than Madison but older than me. She had red hair, chocolate brown eyes and she had the same clothes as Beatrice had, she carried a brown suitcase in her hand, "I..I'm..Alma.."

My parents and the man that brought her had a conversation about something but I couldn't hear them, and when he left my mother took the unknown girl upstairs with Beatrice.
