Stolen love

Chapter 3

Fernandez and I walked in the house together ready to tell the news about our engagement. I can already imagine my mother's proud face.

We entered the main dining room where I see my mother and brother just finishing dinner. "Hey mother, Léon, where's father?" I asked. "He's in a meeting with James Castillo, why?" Léon answered. "We have some great news" Fernandez said with a big smile on his face. My mother's eyes immediately went to the big diamond on my ring finger. "We're engaged" I said, with too little excitement.

My brother gave me a soft smile, but I could see the sadness in his eyes. I know that he's going to miss me too. For years he's been my rock, my peace trough everything. He's just a few years older then me, I'm 19 and he's 22, yet I still felt like I could go to him with everything and he would always be there to protect me. Leaving him will break my heart. "Congratulations" Léon said while giving me the biggest hug. "Thank you" I almost whispered. He's a meter 85 or something like that, so my face is right in his chest. A tear started to fall down my face. I released Léon from my grip and wiped it of quickly before anyone noticed.

My brother moved on and gave Fernandez a firm handshake with a look in his eyes that almost felt like a warning to my fiancé. He's always been an overprotective brother. Maybe that's why I felt safe with him.

Before I even noticed, my mother was walking in my direction to give me a hug. It wasn't a warm hug. It felt cold and it made me uncomfortable. "Good job. Now don't screw up, or I'll make sure that your father will punish you" she whispered in my ear while hugging me. I felt my stomach drop to the floor. Her words felt like a knife stabbing me in my heart over and over. What did I ever do to deserve this.

My mother released me from her grip and continued giving me her biggest fake smile ever. "Your father is going to be so happy, I can't wait to tell him. I'm going to call him right away" she said while leaving the room.

Fernandez turned to me and said that he's going to take a shower and go to sleep, right before he gave me a kiss on my cheek and left.

Now it was just me and Léon and I couldn't hold my tears in anymore. Léon held me in his arms and we stayed like that for almost five minutes. After I calmed down he held my face and looked me in my eyes and said "You know I would never let anyone hurt you, right?". "I know" I answered quietly. "Do you want me to get rid of him?" he asked with a very serious tone. "No! Don't hurt him! He's kind to me and I care about him. Promise me you'll never hurt him" I said with a tone of panic in my voice. I know Léon would do it if I said yes, but I don't want him to. "I promise I won't hurt him as long as he treats you right, but the day he even hurts you a little bit, will be his last day on this earth" he answered with a serious but also concerned tone. "I'll miss you" I said. "You won't get rid of me this easily. Now go to sleep, it's late" he said before giving me a kiss on the top of my head. "Goodnight" I said with a calm voice as I went up the stairs to my room.
