~~~~~~~~~~Mike's POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
School had let out and I had gone home and started getting ready for Max and Dustin to come over. I set out chip and salsa, Oreos, and a bowl of popcorn. I had Nancy rent some movies from Family Video for us to watch. I sat them on the table by the couch with the popcorn. I sat back and looked at everything. Perfect. Well, that wasn't entirely true. It would be perfect if everyone was here. Like Will and Lucas and El. I frowned a bit but was interrupted by a voice. "Hey Mike!" It was Dustin. I smiled and turned to greet him and Max. "Hey guys!" Max smiled and waved and went to sit down on the couch. Dustin followed her and I pulled up a chair we used to use for our DnD meets. "So, What's first?" Max smiled as she held up some movies she pulled from her bag. "What are those?" I looked at her confused. "Horror movies Mike." She rolled her eyes and me and Dustin leaned forward. "Cool." Dustin smiled. "I've got Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday The 13th, The Exorcist, and Halloween." She grinned. Dustin and I looked at each other and smiled. "Let's start with Halloween, my favorite." Max walked over and put the tape into the VCR. I reached over and grabbed a chip and scooped it. Dustin was eating the popcorn. Max sat back down and pressed play.
We finished Halloween and Max got up to change the movie. She took out Halloween and put it back in her bag. She then traded it for Nightmare On Elm Street. As she sat back down to press play, I heard my mom yell. "Mike! You have a phone call!" I smiled and rushed upstairs. I wonder who it was. Maybe Eddie? Steve? I walked into the kitchen to see my mom holding the phone for me. I took it and spoke into it. "Hello?" I heard I familiar voice. "Hey, Mike, it's Will." I smiled even though he couldn't see it through the phone. "What's up?" I leaned up against the wall and twirled the phone cord around my fingers. "I know I just sent out a letter but we haven't called yet." I smiled again and but my nail. "Yeah, it's nice to hear your voice again, Will." There was a slight pause. "W-Well what are you up to, Mike?" "Oh, Max and Dustin are over for a movie night." I smiled and continued to play with the phone cord. "Cool. What movies are you all watching?" I laughed a little. "Max brought some horror movies over. We just finished Halloween and now we're gonna watch Nightmare On Elm Street. But don't worry, they're staying the night so we can talk. It's cool." I smiled to myself. "That's cool. Tell them I said hi. El went out to the skating rink and Jonathan's with Argyle." I frowned a bit. Does Will not have friends there? I didn't want to ask. "I wish you were here. It's be more fun, ya know?" I paused for a second as I heard a distant yell. "Hold on, Will." I put my hand over the phone. "Yeah?" I yelled out. "Dude are you coming back?" It was Dustin. I rolled my eyes with a smile. "Yeah! I'm on the phone with Will! You guys can start it!" I yelled back. "Okay!" Dustin replied and I uncovered the phone. "Sorry. " "It's fine. Did you get my letter yet or no?" I smiled and felt my checks get hot. Love, Will. "Y-Yeah I did. It actually came in this morning. I wrote you back. Both of you guys." I smiled and twirled the phone cord. "Really? What did you think?" My face got hotter? Do I bring it up? "It was nice. I was hoping you'd write back." Smooth, Mike. "Yeah well I gotta go. Mom wants to run some errands with her. Get out of the house, ya know." I laughed a little. "Yeah, it was good talking to you, Will." I smiled. "Bye, Mike." "Bye, Will." I hung up the phone and my heart was beating like crazy. Fuck.
I walked back downstairs and sat in the same spot I did before. "We're only like fifth-teen minutes in." Dustin whispered. I nodded and turned my eyes to the screen. We kept watching movies and eating snacks until about two am. That's when we all agreed that it was time for bed. I pulled out a cot for Max to sleep on and have her bedding. I tossed Dustin and blanket and let him have the couch. "I'm beat." Max yawned and laid down. "Me too." Dustin replied before laying down as well. "Well I'm gonna head to my room, goodnight guys. "Goodnight." They both replied and I headed upstairs. I made my way up to my room and laid down. I was so happy that Will called earlier. Or that he even wrote back. I was just glad he wasn't mad at me anymore.
