Virgil closed the door behind him, sighing as he took off his coat. He took off his boots and walked into the kitchen. He started to fix dinner for his mother, washing the pots and pans he used from when he came home for lunch, and reusing them.He fixed loaded baked potatoes with chicken and gravy, with some rolls too. He carried the tray of food into his mother's room. She opened her eyes and smiled at Virgil. Virgil sat the tray down and moved to help his mother up, but she was already sitting up. "Mama? Did you sit up by yourself?" He asked, it's been a long time since she's done that.
"I did yes, my bones are stronger here today then they have been." Virgil smiled with glee and hugged his mother tight. He moved the tray to her lap and went to feed her, but she took the fork and fed herself.
"Oh, mama, this is great! You're eating by yourself! You must be getting better!" His mother smiled and nodded her head.
"Yes, I guess the lord decided that three years was long enough." She laughed to herself and winked at Virgil. The two talked long through the night. Eventually Virgil went to bed after telling his mother night.
He changed into his pajamas, and slipped into bed.
It was around 3 o'clock in the morning when he awoke. He groaned as he couldn't go back to sleep. His got up and slipped a coat over his silk pajamas. He slipped out the back door and sighed up at the night sky. He walked through the grassy path, running his fingers over the grass as it blew in the breeze.
He eventually reach the garden. He wandered into the garden, looking over the familiar flowers and stone path. He made his way over to the bench and settled down. He watched the sky with a slight smile, finally relaxing, the slight, cool breeze blowing through his hair.
He gave a soft laugh to himself, smiling as bats flew around him, and night animals sang their song. He didn't noticed the footsteps approaching behind him. He didn't notice someone standing behind him. That is until they stuck a rose behind his ear. Virgil gasped and wiped around.
He looked up at none other than Prince Roman. Virgil month went dry as Roman moved around and sat beside him. "You know being out here is highly punishable." Virgil just stared at Roman. "I mean of course you do, but yet you're still here. I must ask, how long have you been coming out here?"
"Three years. I needed an escape and as I was wandering I stumbled upon the garden, that I didn't even know existed. I started coming out here when my mother got sick and I couldn't sleep. I'm sorry, I know it's wrong of me, and I can stop coming here, but I just needed an escape." Virgil explained. Roman listen to his words carefully.
Roman sighed and leaned back into the bench. "I should tell you to never come back and report you to my parents." Virgil sighed and went to move, but Roman grabbed him and brought him back in the seat. "However, I'm not. I have no issue of you coming here. You don't mess with anything, you just come here and sit. But I have one condition,"
"And that condition is what, your highness?" Virgil asked. Roman smiled and laid his arm behind Virgil, and folded his leg up.
"My condition is that I want to be out here with you. Simple as that." Virgil looked over at Roman and nodded. "Good," Roman stood up and looked down at Virgil. "It's late, head home soon. I have to get to bed myself."
Virgil just smiled and nodded, as he watched Roman walk away.
