Thunderstorms had always scared me, ever since I was little. The bright, intense flashes and loud rumbling noises constantly made me uneasy. I don't really know why, because I actually quite like the rain. Maybe it's the uncertainties that can be accompanied by thunderstorms, things like tornadoes. Hiding under my duvet seems to be the best option at the moment, and the fact that I'm alone only makes the situation worse. With every clap of thunder, I hug the sheets tighter around my body, as if they're going to protecting from the sounds. Suddenly my phone rings, startling me. I look at the caller ID and answer it.
"Hey Y/n, are you okay?" Your best friend, Ashton says.
"Um... not really, I'll be fine though." I respond, skeptically.
"I'll be over in 5, alright?" He says, not giving me time to argue. Secretly, I'm kind of grateful he remembered my fear, but I feel bad about having him come over when it's raging outside. I stayed in bed, until I heard the doorbell ring. I speedily scurry out of bed and down the stairs, my blanket still tightly around me. I open the door, only to reveal a soaking Ashton. Stepping inside, he immediately pulls you into his wet embrace.
"I'm here, it's alright." He whispers, rubbing small circles on my back.
"Thank you for coming." I say, just as another loud boom sounds, making me flinch. Ashton's grip tightens around me, and I look up into his hazel eyes.
"C'mon, let's get some sleep, yeah?" He asks, I nod in response. We make our way upstairs, his hand holding mind for comfort. We fall asleep tangled in each other, and I fall asleep to the sound of Ashton's voice, singing me to sleep.
