I was waiting for Katherine in her room. I wanted to have a proper goodbye, but now that she is standing in front of me I don't know what to say anymore. I know that somewhere deep inside she is a bit relieved that she's finally leaving here. Our parents never treated her right, simply because she is a girl. They think that a girl has no value in the mafia, they think that Kath is worthless. They don't know just how wrong they are. Kath is the strongest woman I know. She has the most beautiful and kind soul ever and she deserves to be away from here. It would be selfish of me to try and convince her to stay. As much as I'm going to miss her, I care enough about her to let her go.
"Hey Léon, what are you doing here?" she asks. "I just came to say goodbye. I know you are leaving today, and I have a plane to catch for a meeting in Spain" I answered her. I could see from the expression on her face that she isn't ready to say goodbye yet. Neither am I to be honest. She walks up to me and gives me a hug. I could hear her sniffing. "Katherine, you are my baby sister, I will never leave you. You need to know that wherever you are, I will always be with you. I'm only one phone call away. I would give my life to protect you and to see you happy. Please don't cry, I can't stand seeing you like this" I tell her, without breaking our hug. I don't want her to see my watery eyes, it would only upset her more. I'm trying so hard to be strong for her now.
She breaks our hug and says "I love you so much Léon, I truly do. You are the most amazing brother anyone could wish for. You really don't know how much you mean to me. I don't know what I would do without you. I probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. You saved me without even knowing it". I couldn't hold back my tears anymore. I don't cry, I never cry, but Katherine tends to bring up parts of you that you never even knew you had. " I love you too little sis".
My phone started ringing in my pocket. "I have to take this, text me when you get to Fernandez's mansion" I said to Katherine while leaving her room.
It was from a mafia in Spain, I have to be there in 3 hours for our meeting.
