1 month later,

•Mardiyya•

I pushed away the pile of books in front of me and gulped down the entire Nestle bottle of water which was beside me a while ago. I had nothing to do so I chose to read but it just wasn't entering me so why force it? And anyways I've been getting migraines since yesterday, Mami says I read too much.

I called Amani for the hundredth time but she didn't pick up, she is sleeping over at my house today because her parents are traveling for the weekend and she can't stay at her house all alone so she decided to crash at my house and apparently, the dumbo isn't here yet.

Hearing a familiar cheerful voice from downstairs, I quickly got up from bed in a rush and ran downstairs, with my hair bouncing on my shoulders and I was just in my pjs which I wore since I came back from school after bathing.

"Amani!!!"

"Mardiii!!"

We shared a bone crushing hug which led to us falling down to the carpet. After we got up laughing, that was when I noticed Ya Khalil and Mami staring at us amusingly.

"Are you hungry my dear?" Mami asked Amani but being the shy girl she is, she shook her head no.

"I'll eat later" I rolled my eyes at how fake she is. I winked at Ya Khalil who has been staring at Amani, I knew he has a thingy for her since the first day he saw her. He stood up and left immediately, I chuckled.

"Toh you guys should go upstairs and enjoy yourselves" Mami said and I dragged Amani upstairs along with her bag.

"Okay don't tell me I'll have to share a room with that mean girl" Amani said obviously referring to Khalisa.

"If you don't want to, we can crash at the guest room downstairs" She squealed and we turned around and headed back downstairs, I hope the room isn't dusty.

I opened the door and luckily, it was clean but their wasn't any bedsheet on the bed so I sent one of the maids to get one from my room. We laid it and put on incense sticks in the room.

"I brought things for us!"

"Like???" I asked excitedly and she unzipped the bag. She brought out the black plastic cold stone ice cream tub, two big bags of gummy bear, family sized-skittles, Dairy Milk, KitKat and Fererro Rocher chocolates then lastly three big cans of Pringles.

"Omg omg! I love you Amani! I've been craving gummy bears and alllll of this" I hugged her tightly.

"Well, you've got it. Let's go put the ice cream and chocolates in the fridge outside".

"Nop, we've got a mini fridge in every room." I pointed at the black Samsung mini fridge which was off so I turned the socket on and we put the stuff that can melt inside it and left the others in her bag.

"Aww, my clothes got cold because of the Ice cream" She pouted and I laughed so hard.

Still laughing."Keep them somewhere around since you're here till Monday".

"Duh, okay" She kept her clothes on the bed and I sat with my legs folded, facing her.

"You look down Amani, what's wrong?" I asked and she looked away from me.

"C'monnn, talk to me" I turned her face around to face me and I saw tears in her eyes.

"Subhanallah Amani! Please don't cry, if you don't want me to talk then fine but please don't cry" Tears filled my eyes seeing one her bestfriends in tears.

She sniffed and wiped her tears. "No no, I'll tell you".
"Please if you don't want to it's not a must, just stop crying".

"I-its about Mama...she's still on that her sister's son, Ismail's talk. And she even spoke to Abba about him and he said that he will think about it. Mardi, think about it! It's as good as he's agreeing and I swear I don't like him." She broke into tears and I watched helplessly as her shoulders shook along with her body.

She looked at me in the eyes. "Mardi I need your help. Like even today morning before they left Mama and I had a huge argument cause she wants me to get married as soon as we're done with secondary school and I swear if that happens then I might as well do anything that comes to my mind"

"Keep quiet Amani! Nothing will happen InshaAllah, they won't get you married against your will trust me, they are your parents and they love you!" I held her by her shoulders but she still didn't budge.

"I don't think so! Is it a crime to be an only child? Had it been I had other siblings then maybe Mama won't pester me so much about marriage I'm just sixteen! I wish I was born into your family Mardi, your father, mother and siblings they all love and adore you so much and then their is me, all alone in my father's house and I can't even find any happiness. Sometimes when you say that siblings are very annoying I just look at you cause no matter how many fights you have with them they will always end up being there for you when no one else is. I wish I had a  family like your own".

Throughout the time she was talking, I felt nothing but pity and hot tears filled up my eyes. True to her talk, siblings are for life. I can't imagine even a mere morning without arguing with Ya Al-Ameen, fighting with Khalisa or gossiping with Ya Khalil. I don't want to go further to my parents cause I'll just end up in tears.

"Mama is always scolding me and pointing out my mistakes for everything, she always compares me to my cousins and to you too. It's either she complains about my academics, house chores, my dressing but it's always Amani is wrong to her. Am I not her daughter? I really want to know!" I couldn't help but draw her into my arms and hugged her tightly.

I patted her her till her cries reduced and she pulled out of the hug. "Shh, it will all be okay and don't ever say that Mama isn't your mother cause she is. And don't forget that no mother in this world hates her child, it's not possible. Amani you never know, instead of holding grudges try to talk to her cause maybe something is worrying her and she just vents it out on you, you never know. Promise me that you will talk to her".

"InshaAllah, I promise you I will." I hugged her once again and she stood up and went into the bathroom to wash her face. I got up from the bed to go and get water for her when I noticed that the door was slightly open and I clearly remember shutting it, their isn't any window near the door so it isn't wind, well whatever.

I came back to the room with two bottles of water and passed one to Amani.

"Thank you for the talk babe, you're the best." She smiled.

"Aww, look who's smiling oh and never tell me thank you again or else I'll burst your teeth" We both chuckled and we changed our topic of discussion to something more interesting.
