————————Chloe looked around. It was a sunny day, perfect for a friendly picnic with her friend. She couldn't fight the smile that crept unto her face and looked around for him.
They hadn't seen each other in forever since he moved last summer, but had finally managed to find the time. Mike was supposed to be there any minute now.
After a few minutes of waiting Chloe decided to find a suitable spot to sit. It didn't take long at all, because she found this magnificent willow tree right by the lake.
It provided shade from the scolding heat, but not so much that she would freeze. It was simply the perfect spot. The best thing about it all, was that it hadn't been taken yet. Surely such a perfect spot would be taken at any opportunity.
Chloe smiled before she set down the blanket and her basket. She had packed all their favorite snacks and drinks. She sat down and admired the lake while she waited.
And waited...
She started to lose hope after an hour. Mike probably wasn't going to show up after all. She was sure he had a great excuse, but how believable can the excuses be after the third time?
Chloe sighed as she opened the basket and started eating the snacks by herself instead. She looked up at the willow tree above her and admired it's branches and how easily it swayed with the wind.
However, the moment was ruined as someone ran over to her spot and hid behind the tree. He panted as he closed his eyes as if waiting for something bad to happen.
Chloe just looked at him weirdly. As she wondered who this boy was he finally opened his eyes and looked back towards where he came from. He sighed with relief.
"Hi." The boy jumped as he hadn't noticed her when he ran over. He held a hand on his heart.
"Why, hello." He said after he had gotten a good look at her. "Mind if I join?"
"Who are you?" Chloe asked as he sat down next to her.
"The man of your dreams of course, who else?" He answered as he picked up a sour gummy.
"Right, of course. How could I possibly think any less?" She answered.
"Exactly," He answered before looking at her. "Anyway, what's a pretty girl like you doing alone on such a wonderful evening?" He asked motioning towards her.
"Can't I have a picnic all alone without it being weird?" Chloe asked, challenging him.
"'Course you can, but it didn't look like you were enjoying yourself now did it?" He stated, stealing another gummy. "So I simply had to come and save you from your misery, you're quite welcome actually."
"Ok, dial it down a few notches Romeo. I didn't need to be saved, I was actually waiting for someone." She shot back.
"And how's that working out for you?"
"Quite well actually, until you decided to ruin it of course." She stated before she felt a drop hit her shoulder.
Realization hit her as she remembered that she didn't bring an umbrella. Chloe remembered her mother pestering her about it this morning, but of course she just had to forget.
"Looks like it's gonna rain, Princess." He stated.
"Yeah, no shit Sherlock." She answered as she gathered her things. The willow did little to nothing to protect them from the rain.
"LEO!!" Someone shouted at the top of their lungs. He tensed up. Before she knew it he was kissing her. She was so confused and pushed him off.
"What the fuck dude?!" She exclaimed as the rain started pouring down.
"Sorry." He muttered. He then started looking around him for the person who shouted. He seemed relieved once he didn't detect anyone.
"You can't just kiss a complete stranger like that?!" Chloe stared at him before storming off. He sighed before running after her.
"Look, I didn't mean to." He tried to explain.
"Oh, so you do this regularly? Got it thanks." He rolled her eyes before quickening her pace. He followed suit.
"You're gonna catch a cold, here." He stated before handing her his jacket. It was pretty soaked as well, but she was really cold so she grabbed it.
It was big on her and felt heavy from the rain, but the helped her see better. "Thanks." She said before walking off again.
"Bye." He muttered as he watched her walk away.
"Leo!"
"Shit."
