The alarm clock goes off, beeping in my ear. I cringe, then sit up. It's now 7:00 and Brook will be calling any minute. I walk over to my night stand and look at myself in the mirror while lazily brushing my fingers through my hair and wiping the sleep out of my light blue eyes. I let the phone ring once then pick it up to hear Brook. ''Good Morning Cassidy! What time do you want me to pick you up?'' I hesitate still half asleep trying to think. ''Well how about in a half hour? Will that work I ask''

Yes,that’s fine see ya soon birthday girl.'' I put my clothes on I had laid out for this morning.Next I brushed my short brown hair back into a bun and I then grabbed my duffel bag and headed toward the front door when a small fragile voice startled me as I was just about out the door. I then froze turning on my heels I tuned to face my grandma who was still in her fuzzy blue robe and matching slippers. She was all I had at the moment seeing as my mom wasn't home and I was not to sure when she would be back, So I just politely said to her that I told my mother I was going on a trip with a friend of mine for my birthday and would be back in two days. She then hesitated and I knew she wanted to protest so I quickly said ''Love you! Be back soon! My ride should be here by now.'' Grandma then just nodded and said her goodbyes .

As I walked down the driveway I noticed it was really cold out and how stupid I was for not bringing a warmer coat. My thoughts were interrupted when I seen Brook's car parked at the end of the driveway. I stopped a few feet away from the car when I noticed Brook was in the passengers side. She glanced at me with a wide smile and motioned for me to get in the drivers side. When I got in and before I could ask she blurted out, that she was not feeling good this morning and if I could drive us up and she'd promise she'd will drive on the way back. So I agreed, smiling back ''I don’t mind.''

As I drove I thought about how Brook and I always had our birthdays together since we were young. Our moms were the best of friends and met in the hospital when we were born and they just clicked,I honestly think it was because both of the fathers left as soon as they found out .

I realized that I could not remember what we did last year for our birthday,turning down the music as we drove. ''Hey Brook'' I said,now looking from the road to Brook. ''Do you remember what we did on our birthday last year? I can't seem to remember...'' I asked quietly and now feeling silly for even asking.

She looked at me now with a shocked look on her face mouth then opened and closed like she was thinking.

Then, spitting out ''Are you seriously asking me this Cassidy?'' Her eyebrows rising now. ''How could you not remember?!?''

''Yea.. Your right I said stupid question..''

'OH MY GOD.'' Brook cut in ''I love this song!'' She turned up the radio now, singing loudly and fist pumping.

There was now a short time until we arrived at the hotel to start our birthday and vacation.

For the rest of the way there, we sang, talked about school and of course our celebrity crushes. Then we ended up having to stop for gas and to stretch.

It was now one o’clock in the afternoon and we were both restless and just wanted out of the car.''YAY!!'' Brook said,loudly. Startling me a little. ''Look! We're here!''

As I turned on to a road that had a lush,winter forest. All around us.Then,the hotel now came into view.

A tall almost castle,like hotel that seemed to stretch out forever.

I parked the car ''Oh Brook! It's perfect! Happy birthday to us! '' I giggled, just thinking about all the fun stuff ahead. Setting down my luggage,I took the hotel key and inserted it into the door and watched the light turn green and the door click open. Trying to drag my bag through the door, Brook pushed past me and made a b- line for the bed. Watching her, flop down face first into the sheets made me burst out into laughter. I then put my bag down and sat on the other bed. ''This is going to be an awesome weekend! Thanks for finding this place Brook''
