Neil began filling more cups with lemonade. The line went by fast, but it was still a lot of work. it looked like there were at least 200 people.
"Ugh, I could really use some lemonade right now," Ryan complained.
"I promise I'll save some for you," Neil smiled. After a while of serving customers, Neil poured one last cup before realizing the pitcher was almost empty.
"Guys, we're running low," he whispered as he handed a cup to a customer.
"Oh well, you can just make more right?" Ryan whispered back.
"No, we're almost out of lemons. I could probably make one more pitcher full but that's it," Neil argued. Ryan looked up at the line ahead of them. Not as long as before, but there were still too many people to serve with what they had.
"Uh, okay, just make more lemonade and we'll figure this out when you run out completely, okay?" he suggested. Neil nodded and opened the compartment with the ingredients. There were no lemons.
"What? Where did the lemons go?" he gasped. He looked over to see a raccoon carrying two lemons.
"Damn wildlife," he muttered to himself. "Well guys, I think we should pack up."
"Why? we're doing so good," Kevin remarked. Neil pointed to the raccoon.
"That's why," he replied. The raccoon hissed and ran away. Kevin took another look at the line, and back at the money they had already made. it was about $350.
"We can't quit now," he cheered. Neil and Ryan looked at each other, confused.
"But we're out of lemonade," Ryan argued. Kevin nodded.
"That's okay, we'll figure something out. We're not quitters," he beamed. Neil and Ryan nodded and smiled.
"Yeah!" they exclaimed together.
Just then, there was a flash of lightning and it began pouring rain.
"Aw man," the line complained. "Let's get out of here."
The line got smaller and smaller until there was only one person left. It was Max.
"Ugh, I didn't wanna have to do this, but I'm thirsty. Lemonade, now," he demanded. he flipped his backwards baseball cap over the right way to shield his face from rain.
"About that, Max, we're actually out of lemonade," Ryan remarked. "We only have enough for one cup and it's mine."
Max grumbled. "I've been waiting in line for forever, I deserve this. I won't ask again. Lemonade. Now," he insisted. The three looked at each other, then back at Max.
"Would you excuse us for a moment?" Kevin forced a smile and the three huddled together.
"Guys, we have one cup left and we need as much money as we can get," He whispered.
"Yeah, but it is only $2," Neil remarked. "That's like, nothing."
"I have an idea," Ryan said. "Max seems sooo desperate for lemonade, what if we charge extra?" Kevin and Neil nodded.
"How much extra?" Neil wondered.
"$100," Ryan answered. Neil looked at Kevin with a worried expression.
"I don't know, that's a lot to charge for lemonade. I don't think Max would be willing to pay that," Neil concerned.
"Ah come on, it's worth a shot," Ryan smiled. Neil thought for a second.
"Oh, alright," he agreed. The three turned back around to face Max.
"Ugh, finally," he complained.
"Alright max, you can have our last lemonade," Neil began. Max smiled. "For $100." Max's smile faded.
"Ugh, really?" he complained. The three looked at each other and then nodded slowly, re-thinking their plan.
"Yes, really," Kevin responded. Max rolled his eyes and slammed $100 on the counter.
"You're lucky I'm desperate," he barked. The three smiled and Neil poured the last bit of lemonade into a cup.
"Thank you!" he beamed.
"Yeah whatever," Max grabbed the cup and walked away.
"We're so close now! All we need is $50," Ryan exclaimed. He looked at the empty beach and frowned.
"But how will we get that?" Neil wondered.
Suddenly, the cart collapsed and fell apart right in front of them.
"Hm. Good timing I guess," Kevin said. He dug through the rubble and found a few $5 and $10 bills. He counted them and it added up to $50 exactly.
"No way guys, check it out!" he exclaimed as he held up the money.
"Woah!" Ryan cheered. Neil thought for a second.
"Wait, Kevin, you said you found this cart on the side of the road right?" Neil asked. Kevin was confused as to why he brought this up.
"Yeah?" he replied.
"Where exactly was that road?" Neil wondered.
"It was near that festival down the street with all those food carts and stuff," Kevin answered. Neil gasped.
"Kevin, I think you stole a working food cart," he concluded. Kevin's eyes widened.
"Oohh, that explains all the food that was in the compartments when I found it," he said. Just then, someone came running onto the beach holding an umbrella, frantically trying to stop it from blowing away.
"Has anyone seen a missing food cart around here?" they shouted. The three looked at each other in panic.
"Let's get out of here," Ryan said.
