I watch the young homeowners wake up around eleven a.m. and roll my eyes. This had begun to be their usual routine and it disgusted me. Mortals have turned lazy and it needed to be changed. I watched as the woman took a shower and the man made four pieces of toast. This had begun to be their daily morning routine. I watched as the woman came out and poured herself a cup of coffee. The man turned on his computer and had started working on another useless project for work. In the past they would've been considered failures but nowadays this is considered productive. The woman walked over to the man and gave him a hug and started getting ready to leave. This was the thing that was different from their normal routine. Normally the woman had gone back to bed. I shuffle a bit as I watch in confusion.

"Honey the Wilsons down the street asked me if I could go check their house and water the plants so I'll be back in like ten minutes." I heard the woman say as she slipped on walking shoes. He nodded and said goodbye along with a dozen 'I love you's'. I raised my eyebrow as I watched her walk out of their small apartment and walk down the street. Maybe today will finally be more interesting than their daily routine that I've grown tired of.

I patiently watched as the girl ran up the stairs into a much nicer apartment than the one she shared with her love. She fished something out of a potted plant near their front door and then quickly unlocked the door and walked inside. I hear her as she mumbles. "I'll just be in and out. No big deal." I watch as she leaves the front door cracked. Intensional or not, it was stupid and I had hoped karma would take effect on her careless actions. She checked her phone before walking into the kitchen and turning on the water. She opened up a few cabinets before successfully finding where the 'Wilson's' kept their cups. She filled one up and then went around watering the plants until the soil was moist.

Suddenly the front door started creaking. I sighed as I knew this wasn't a good sign. It meant one of two things. Either a noisy neighbor was coming in thinking someone was robbing the place or....

Just as I was about to finish my thought I heard a loud bang and crashing before I looked back at the girl. Oh dear. The woman who just this morning was smiling with her lover was now on the family's bright orange rug changing the color of it with what was left of inside her head. I looked over to see a man holding an expensive looking shaped glass before he impromptuly dropped it causing it to shatter and mix into the pool of blood that was forming on the floor.

I couldn't tell if it was planned or not but the man suddenly started freaking out and ran frantically around grabbing things that looked expensive before fleeing the scene that he had caused. I decided to come down personally and see what the humans saw in something so easily harmed. As I appeared the lights began to flicker and a few exploded. I watched as the girl groaned and I walked back a bit startled that she was still living. "Help me...." I shook my head before examining her. To say she was pretty was to put it harshly. Her beauty didn't belong in a world like this so it was about time that it got taken away. Her name was Mallory- Unfortunate by definition, which is clearly proving to be true. She has long black hair and fair skin. Bright green eyes. She reminded me of what a black cat would look like if living.

"If only someone were here to save you.." I mumbled before bending down and dipping my hand into her head wound and licking my hand. She groaned again before closing her eyes. It was the last time she would eat breakfast with her loving husband, the last time she would shower with the water on the hottest setting. But I made sure the last thing she saw would be me enjoying the contents of her.

Suddenly I heard the door creak again. Trouble followed this woman like a bad stench. I quickly backed into the dark where a light had been put out before watching the man come in. The man's name was Tristan- Meaning sorrowful. These two seemingly generic names with such meaningful backgrounds. He was tall. Not tall enough to even come close to intimidating me however, I've seen him intimidate people just because of height. Muscular enough to provide self defense. With brown hair that always seemed greasy and matching brown eyes, he calmly walked into the now silent hallway.

"Mallory... babe it's been a little bit so I just wanted to check on you." I chuckled at the optimistic tone he was carrying. Perhaps he was hoping that she had just gotten distracted. The truth was so much better than that. Free from life's useless drama, she could now live how she wanted. At least that's how I saw it. Tristan however, did not.

After letting out a loud gasp he ran over to her still cold body. Perhaps he could not see the blood because of the lack of light. This was definitely far from their usual routine however, that's for sure. He rushed down to her side and tried picking her lifeless body up before cutting his hand on the broken glass. I watched as his blood slowly dripped down and mixed into the pool that had already been formed. He began to cry, covered in blood, holding her, he cried like a baby. I slowly stepped out of the shadows.

"Why do you cry foolish mortal?" I asked him as I slowly stepped up into the light. He gasped as he dropped her body. "DID YOU DO THIS TO HER?!?!" He quickly stood up as if he was about to fight but as he took a look at what I was he backed down. "I loved her.." I nodded as I bent over and licked some of the blood off the floor. His eyes widened as he quickly backed up onto the counter. "What the fuck are you?... Some kind of monster?" I shook my head as I wiped off some of the blood that was now on my chin. "No, I'm here to help you." He let out another sob. "Why would I trust you?" I shrugged. "Why wouldn't you? Plus I can help you bring back your dear Mallory." He sobbed loudly as I held out my hand. "Make a deal, you can go back as much as you want. Save her life. Live peacefully as if it was all just a bad dream. And I don't need anything in return."
