Renesmee's Story (A Twilight Fan Fiction) *BEING EDITED*

Chapter 13- Part 1

"I cannot believe you came, what were you thinking!?" I ask, trying to keep my emotions in check. Aro and his minions left only seconds ago and I turned to speak to him immediately, wanting to know what was going through his mind to do something so reckless.

"I was thinking about protecting you, and I acted."

Everyone has started to leave the clearing, walking in the direction of Carlisle's but Jake and I remain where we are for a short while. "Renesmee, we are going back now, are you coming?" mum asks me, telling me what I already presumed.

I'm too focused on Jake as it feels as if I haven't spoken to him for months rather than days. So rather than replying aloud I nod.I'll be home later,I say quickly in my mind, sending it out to mum. Mum gives me a slight smile which I see out of the corner of my eye as I am looking up at Jake.  A second later she is completely gone from sight.

"But how did you even know they were arriving today? I didn't tell you," I say, confused. Anger flares up within me as I realise only one way he could have found out. "Did one of them tell you!?" I accuse.

"No, I overheard your's, Emmett's and a few other's 'fake fight' yesterday. Something you said told me it was sometime today."

The anger diminishes and I exhale a deep breath, only from habit. I don't want to argue with him anymore, hence why I am trying to control myself. I am relieved that Jake isn't raising his voice at me, even though I am raising my voice speaking to him. I guess he has more self-control than I do.

"I am so sorry for keeping you away, I just didn't- I don't-" I shake my head, not knowing how to explain what I want so badly to say. "I just didn't want you or anyone to get hurt, or worse, because of me." I finish, wanting to say so much more but not knowing the words to explain.

"And I told you," he says, stepping closer to me, "that I will always be here to protect you, if you want me to be or not."

"I cannot believe I pushed you away, Jake- I- I cannot find a good enough reason for my behaviour, I just couldn't see you hurt. I panicked when I saw that Jane was hurting you. That she was inflict- I felt like I was the one in pain. My family and I didn't want-"

I stop mid-sentence as Jake's finger pressed against my lips locks the unsaid words from being spoken aloud. "I understand; you don't need to explain. I felt the same way when she was hurting you, that's why I ran out."

I pull his hand away from my face, wanting to explain everything, to make my idiotic actions appear more reasonable. "Jake, I have to explain."

"No, you don't." 

"I do, I just don't know how. My actions have hurt you and myself. My go- I cannot explain how much it has pained me to not be able to see you, to speak to you-"

"We don't have to talk about the past few days, just focus on now. And I want, I need to say this now, that no matter what happens, the Volturi come again, another threat, or just life continuing as normal as it can get for us, I will never leave your side, and that is a promise."

"I'm so sorry I made you leave," I say, feeling a tidal wave consumed in guilt and saddness wash over me. 

"Don't apologize. Lets not talk about the past couple of days, it's easier to move on and not talk about it," he says, gazing into my eyes, making me forget about everything I was worried about.

"What do you want to talk about?" I whisper, even though we are the only two within hundreds of meters from here.

I look into his eyes, puzzled by his previous statement. We can't just forget about this, can we? Because I know it will be constantly in my mind, a constant reminder of how we have next to no power about our own future, our own lives. 

Even though he was already close to me before, he steps even closer, his body only centimeters from mine. "I don't want to talk," he whispers. 

I try to comprehend what me meant, he doesn't want to talk, then what? He lowers his head closer to mine and I can feel the heat of his breath on my forehead. Can hear the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. I lift my head, looking into his eyes slightly confused.

My confusion is replaced by complete bliss as his lips meet mine.
