It's been a rough few weeks recently, ever since my best friend, Layla passed nothing has been the same. It's kind of funny to think cause we were both opposite to each other, she was the popular cheerleader and I was the outcast watching but I guess in a way it was kind of perfect.
Today is the day of the funeral. My mum came in to make sure I was awake, "I know all of this is so sudden and I'm always here to talk" she said before leaving to let me get dressed, I honestly have no idea how I'm gonna get through today. I put black tights on with the black dress and threw my jacket over it with the black pumps. I didn't put any make-up on cause I would end up crying it back off.
- At the funeral -
I got out of the taxi and met Layla's parents and hugged them, they look like they'd been crying for a while, but I don't blame them. Shortly after the place was nearly full of our whole year group she had so many people that cared for her.
We all sat down and I can already feel the tears starting. Layla's mum stood by the front and started to speak.
"Thank you all for coming today, Layla would've loved to see you here today for her, it's so unfortunate it's in these circumstances. She was the happiest girl I knew, there wasn't a time she wasn't smiling. She was taken too soon and she will always be in all our hearts-" She cut her speech short then she started to cry despite the brave face she was putting on, and then sat back down.
A few hours had passed and we all got up to leave, as I got up Layla's mum stopped me, "I found this in her room earlier." she passed me a piece of folded paper "I'm so sorry if I knew I would've-" she cut me off "I know." she said before giving me a hug then leaving. I put the paper in my jacket pocket and started making my way out.
