Appearance: Akari has a slim build, similar to her older sister Kanae Kocho. She has light brown chocolate skin and brown eyes that would appear like pools of honey in the sun. She's the same height as Shinobu Kocho.

Outfit: She wears a dark purple standard demon slayer uniform, similar to Shinobu's with gold buttons. Over that, she wears a white haori which has a butterfly wing pattern that fades into a pale yellow then black color on the sleeves and hem which are cuffed with a black and white dotted trim. She wears white zōri sandals with yellow straps for footwear, with a hidden blade in one of the heels. Just like Shinobu!

Backstory: Akari was born into a very poor family during Japan's Taisho Period. Though, her parents hated her. They just thought of her as a burden, leading to them abusing her and beating her every day. They never fed her so she had to eat the food scraps left by them in secret. One day, she decided she couldn't take it anymore and decided to run away. She left during the night while her abusive parents slept. She stole as much food as possible and shoved it into a small bag before heading straight for the exit. She ran and ran until she couldn't anymore and finally collapsed due to extreme exhaustion, no matter how hard she tried to get up she couldn't. Eventually, she gave up and closed her eyes. Sometime later, she woke up only to be shocked and scared at the same time. A bit confused too. Now, a woman with purple hair tips and wearing a white haori with a butterfly wing pattern on it was protecting her from a man-eating demon. Apparently, she was just about to be attacked by it unknowingly until she showed up just in time. The woman simply lounged at the demon before it could attack first but she missed. The demon jumped into the air and did a backflip before landing perfectly on its feet before yelling out

" Demon Blood Art: raining knives! "

Suddenly, literal sharp like silver objects began raining from the sky. The woman was quick though and simply grabbed Akari before she could be hit by them, all while jumping around and jumping off trees to avoid the sharp objects. She was successful and swiftly made sure to hide Akari in a safe place. Then, it was off to kill the demon. It was almost as if she had teleported but suddenly she was gone. That was just how fast she really was. Now, back on the battlefield with the demon, the demon immediately began attacking the woman again, shouting

" Demon Blood Art- "

But before the demon could finish, the woman began to attack, lounging at the demon again but this time being successful as she now stabbed the demon multiple times, injecting wisteria poison into its body before doing a back flip and landing on her feet. Before the demon could react to this, the women attacked again. This time, aiming to end the fight.

" Butterfly Dance: Caprice~! "

The woman leaps into the air and charges toward the demon and stings them multiple times with her blade to inject poison.



Afterward, the woman landed and rolled behind the demon. Of course, as seeing that he hasn't been beheaded, he immediately assumes that she missed and was too weak to finish him off. But before he could even get a word out, he started melting. The poison she had injected into him was working well and fast. He dropped to his knees and began coughing up large amounts of blood before the sun had slowly begun to come up, slowly turning him into dust as he continued coughing. Soon, he was gone. For good.

" Oops. Silly me, guess I overdid it. "



Akari watched the entire fight, amazed by such elegance. She was truly, lost for words at the moment. She gulped, watching the mysterious woman return to the place she had left Akari to be safe. She crouched down, waving at Akari before speaking.

" My name is Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. You? And why on earth are you out here all alone? "

Akari quickly replied with

" My name is Akari. I don't have a last name and I'm out here because I ran away from home. From my abusive family.... They beat me, tortured me, and scarred me for life. I was hoping to find a place to stay but I was too exhausted to continue and ended up collapsing onto the ground. If you hadn't shown up, I would've been dead! "

Shinobu sighed, slightly saddened by the bit of information she had just received.

" Oh dear, you poor thing... Tell you what, you can come stay with me and the other Hashiras at the Slayer base. We'll take great care of you there. And, I'm gonna adopt you as my little sister! I'm gonna train you and make you a demon slayer! Master will be very pleased to hear we have a new member of the Slayer Corps. "



Akari's face lit up with joy! From now on she would be known as Akari Kocho. Shinobu's little sister. What a privilege this was indeed! In fact, she couldn't wait to start training with her older sister and other Hashiras at the base. From there on out, things were gonna get a whole lot better for Akari.
