The New Hire

Emma Frost, The Ice Queen of the new world. Found herself sitting in Xavier's school for gifted youngsters. Although not in the visitor chair, as Charles had mysteriously disappeared. She was also short staffed, missing at least one teacher so she had Mr Rasputin stand in as the oldest of the class. She was gazing over a file of an ally of the school Y/n L/n a Human ex teacher who spends his time travelling the states in search of mutant children to help get them the help the deserve. He'd called her up last week and told her he'd be stopping by for a visit soon. Then when there was a knock on the door Hank McCoy appeared and walked in. "Ms. Frost, Mr L/n has arrived." As Hank told her, you walked in. You'd met Emma a few times but that was usually when she was in her more villainous time as a mutant. "Ms. Frost pleased to meet you" You said bowing. She put her hand out to shake but to her surprise you placed a small peck on the back of her hand. "Mr L/n" She began. "I've heard a lot about you from the older kids, They look up to you albeit your flaws. But I know you're here for a visit but at the moment we're short staffed. It would mean a lot if you could fill a spot even if only temporarily." She said sitting back down. "Right into it huh. Well I must admit I have missed teaching. So why not." You said, flashing her a grin. You both left the office and began to walk towards your new class. When you opened the door you were surprised to see the mountain of a man you know as Piotr trying to teach a math class. He turned to see you and Emma standing there "Ms. Frost, How can I help?" He acknowledged her first. "Just thought I'd swing by and introduce your new teacher Piotr. As the class had fallen pretty much asleep due to boredom and being unsupervised they now looked up as you walked to the front of the class as they all had smiles when all of a sudden you were tackled into a hug by two of the older girls "Y/N!" they yelled as you looked down to see Katherine Pryde and Jubilation Lee. You pat their backs "Hey you two, mind getting off for a bit?" You ask for them to pout and stand next to you as you glance over to Emma to see a frozen face. "Y/n!" Piotr walks and places a hand on your shoulder. "How are you comrade?" "I'm good Piotr, I thought I was just stopping by but it appears I'm taking over this senior class" As you say this the two girls next to you turn in excitement. "Really! Y/n you're our new teacher." Asked Kitty. You turned to Emma, "I'm assuming this is the class. Getting time to speak Emma walked up to you and wrapped an arm around you to the jealousy of Jubilee and Kitty. "Y/n is the newest staff member if any of you" she looks at the girls mumbling about you, "You'll deal with him unless he deems it out of his field you deal with me. I do hope you consider joining the staff for lunch Y/n." She says the last part as she walks out. You sigh rubbing the girls heads "Alright you two sit down do the work Piotr assigned." You tell them "But-" Jubilee starts "No buts. I'm your teacher now in class. You treat me like a teacher okay?" She nods then gives you a small hug before going to sit down. "How are you and Illyana Piotr?" You turn to the tall man. "I'm. I'm good, It's good to see you again, Illyana ah you'll see her around. He tells you, "So you've been in charge of this batch?" You ask looking around seeing a few familiar faces. Jubilee and Kitty in the back talking occasionally looking at you. Bobby in the middle with Sam and then Alison in the front. It wasn't a big class, only about fifteen. You proceed to spend the rest of the class going over what Piotr taught as the "sub". On your way out of class you find a couple of the other staff standing there "Ororo?" you say seeing them walk up to them. "How are you dear friend?" Ororo asks, giving you a hug. "I'm good Ororo, mind introducing me?" You ask, looking at the second person. "Y/n this is Neena Thurman, Neena-" "Y/n L/n. My kids speak highly of you." You smile. "Pleased to meet you, Neena looking forward to getting along. She huffs then walks off. Ororo sighs. "I'm sorry about her Y/n she's had it rough..." "It's alright Ororo. So lunch? Think you could show me the way there?" She chuckled of course.

As you sat down with a coffee watching the argument unfold. "HE'S A HUMAN!" You looks to see Neena gesturing to you glaring at your defender. "Look. Not all humans are bad. Y/n here has saved our skins many times." You look at Scott "I wouldn't go that far Scott. "No you don't give yourself enough credit Bub" you look over to see Logan drinking a can of alcohol. Emma enters the room when she opens the door you see a small crowd has gathered. You sigh Emma seats herself next to you. "Rough first lunch?" she asks placing a hand on your should with a somber look. "Yea I'm largely welcomed. I just feel Ms Thurman has an issue with me. She looks over at the now silently fuming teacher. "Neena come outside" "Bu-" "Shush I gave you a chance here. Don't blow it." she says sternly glaring at her. The day goes by as you find yourself sitting in one of the lounges on you laptop going over the weeks plan. When you hear giggling nearby. "Alright come out." You look over at the door to see Kitty Jubilee and a girl only younger by a few years at most. You set you laptop aside. "Kitty, Jube, Illyana, How can I help?" You asked. Kitty shook her head we just wanted to spend time with you Y/n" She said as they sat next to you. Sighing you give in. "Alright lets put on a movie." As the movie plays catching the attention of the still bickering faculty. Going to see what's going on they see you and the three students on the couch watching Neena growls and just walks away. Emma however smiles and sits behind you and whispers in your ear "Well aren't you just Mr. Popular" You stiffen to see the blonde beauty smiling. You all spend time together enjoying the film.
