Nerdy quarterback

Part 1

One day my best friend Josie and I were talking about how, because of how much I have to be home, we never get to hangout not at school,

"I've got it!" Jo excitedly yelled "what if we asked Mr.Lee about managing the football team, me, you and Lucy could do it with us!"

"that's perfect jo!" I replied as we ran off to talk to

Over the next few weeks, we filled out and submitted our football management forms to the front office and met the coach, which was terrifying is heck. I even convinced my other best friend Avenly, who is insanely good at soccer to try out for kicker.

Then finally, on the first day of tryouts, as we walked to the breezeway outside the boy's locker room we were met by Maya, who turned out to be another manager since her brother was trying out for the team. We politely said hi as we didn't know her very well yet. We waited at the locker room and as some of the boys trickled down to the field, we decided to follow them. when we got to the field lucy, being as confident as she is, walked right up to one of the other coaches and introduced us.

"I'm Lucy, this is Addison" she paused for and moment to turn around and point at me," and this is Josie"

"Nice to meet you!" I said as jo waved politely. The coach gave us keys, introduced us to Landon, the last of us 5 managers, and told us how to set up the EDDs (we found out that it means everyday drills later). When all of the boys, and Avenly, are finally at the field they all take a lap around the school and meet back at the field.

"Hey Maya," I say to her " do you know what we are supposed to do right now" she laughs and shakes her head

"No, but I'll go ask!" when she comes back she gives Jo and Lucy keys and asks them to go up to the gym and fill up water. As they walk away the team starts to count off for drills and each of us managers goes to a different drill.

Now here are some things to know about me, I'm 14, in eighth grade, and the only time I ever talk to a guy I like is if they talk to me first, and I absolutely Love UW football. So, when coach Kevin pointed out that one of the football players was wearing an Oregon ducks shirt I paid attention to him. (For people that don't know UW and the ducks are rivals) As I kept watching him I realized how good-looking he is, he's not traditionally handsome, and I've never seen him before so he's not very popular even though I notice he sits at their table at lunch, he always brings lunch from home. When I ask lucy about him she tells me that his name is James Miller, he is in her magnet classes, which basically means the classes where all the smart kids take, he is super kind, he is kinda quiet but funny and when he is done with his work he plays pokemon on his computer. When I tell my friend Lilyann about him she comes up with a plan so that I can talk to him. Her plan is to not finish our math homework in class that day and to finish it with her at their lunch table since her boyfriend and James are friends and sit with him.
