it was almost as if the weather was getting colder each day, despite it being mid summer. sitting beside the pool, everyone had made their way out from the house, talking and having fun. you on the other hand were sitting alone, furthest away from the warmth of the fire they had set in the outdoor fireplace.staring into the water, your foot taps against the floor in a seemingly impatient manner, you had no idea what you were stressing over, you had filmed everything you needed to, for tiktok and for your youtube, you finished your studies, and you had everyone you valued the most all around you.
yet, the feeling of impatience and stress built up inside you like air did a balloon, "n/n?" one of your best friend, sebastian calls as he sits down next to you, causing you to break the stare you had on the shimmering water, you look over at him, the grip you had on the soda glass tightening.
"what's up?" he question, fixing his positioning on the seat, you look back at the water, still unsure of what was truly bothering you.
had you forgotten something?
was it the weather?
"nothing" you say after a short silence, eyebrows creasing, almost as if you were trying to convince yourself more than you were sebastian. "you sure? you've been silent all evening." he inquires, fixing the soda glass between his hands, you look at him, "yeah." you say simply.
"just... thinking." you mutter, sebastian nods and takes his leave, joining back into the conversation with the rest of the boys and the media team.
the water was undeniably interesting today.
leaves blew in the wind as cold air made it's way with it, the gust moving your hair, causing you to sigh. your eyes trail a lone leaf drifting through the air until it lands into the water. yet again, your eyes were on the water, almost as if they had never left it in the first place.
"not having fun?" a soft voice echoes in your mind, it takes you awhile before you fully register that someone was actually talking to you. "what?" you ask, despite knowing exactly what he said. looking over at darren who was sitting where sebastian once sat.
"i said, you not having fun?" he restates more than re asks, you trail everyone who was accompanying you tonight.
you were enjoying yourself.
well, at least you thought you were...
"y/n?" he says, gathering your attention again, you sigh, "i'm alright, just thinking." you say, exactly like you did to sebastian, in hopes that he'd replicate what sebastian had done.
unfortunately he stays.
...
fortunately he stays.
you weren't sure if you were grateful for his company, "you're never this quiet." he says, standing up, you trail his body, he was beautiful and caring. before you can say something, he sits beside you on the two seater chair you were on, "you're acting like ryan." he states simply.
"thought you loved ryan." you say, darren lets out a scoff like laugh, "i love y/n more than i do ryan." he says as if it were nothing.
you freeze
left staring at the water again.
at least you've been doing this all night, so it wasn't that out of the ordinary.
"you... love me?" you ask, were you really that inattentive? darren looks at you, he wraps an arm around your shoulder in a comforting manner, pulling you closer to him. "you're frozen." he says, rubbing his hands over your skin, trying to warm you up.
how were you only just realizing how cold you were?
maybe it was the weather that was causing you to act this way...
"darren...?" you ask, looking up at him, your head resting on his chest, he looks down at you, he let's out a hum to show he's acknowledging you.
"i love you too." you mumble.
looking down at the glass in your hands, you smile. you still didn't know what was bothering you this badly, but you were glad you had darren beside you.
