It was nearly noon, as I walked down my driveway to Chris's house.

Last night when he dropped off the flour he had borrowed, he asked me if I would help him with the whole "proposal" thing.

On the inside, I was not okay with doing this at all. Helping the guy that I love, marry someone else?

But if Chris is really happy, I guess I should be too...

Chris had driven to the park, and walked me to a tall willow tree. The grass around us was so green, and there were patches of daffodils blooming everywhere.

"It's so beautiful here." I gasped, breathing in the sweet scent of the flowers and grass.

"I know, it's my favorite place to be. I like to come here alone a lot just to think." He said leaning up against the tree.

"What's this?" I said, pointing to a carving on the tree.

"Oh yeah, Mandy and I carved our initials here."

I smiled a weak smile.

"Okay, so. Here is what I was thinking!" Chris said, jumping up from the tree.

"I would have a picnic set up right here, and I was thinking about opening a bottle of wine, and when the mood is right- that's when I'll ask." He said excitedly.

"That sounds... Romantic!" Ugh it hurt so much.

Chris gently grabbed my hand, and plucked a flower. He placed it behind my ear in my hair.

I could my checks head up and go red.

"I'm sorry... Am I making you feel uncomfortable?" He asked, his big blue eyes starring deep into mine.

"Oh no, it's ok, keep going."

With my hand still in his, he knelt down and took a small black box out of his pocket.

"Mandy, I love you. I love you so much, that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So, will you marry me?" He said, dropping his hand from mine, and opening the box.

I had never see Chris like this. He face was completely still, and serious. His eyes were full of concern, as he looked deeply into mine.

How could this be happening. This was going to crush my heart, forever.

"What a lucky girl she is..." I whispered.

-

Oh how I longed to hear those words he had said come out of his mouth for me.
