A/N: hi yall!! so, this oneshot will be abt what i think happened after Kara (SPOILERS⚠️⚠️) lost her memory and went back to her childhood home. also, i have this hunch that everyone who knew Kara was missing also had their memories of her missing erased. I know, it kinda doesnt make sense but rlly this is the only explanation i could come up with, so bear with me here.
this was kind of short though, i just knew i had to update after a pretty long time. also, completely out of topic, i'm listening to Helpless while writing this. anyways, i should rlly stop talking. hope u enjoy!! (。•̀ᴗ-)✧

Kara stumbled to the ground, coughing. She felt as if she had been violently shaken out of a long dream. A very long dream. Something about. . .a fairytale? Completely vaguely, she remembered a few images: thunder and lightning, bright light going against shadows, vines, and. . .gold? She shook her head. Everything was so weird.
She plopped onto the ground and looked up. She was in her backyard. She inhaled the scent of the purple jacaranda blooms and fragrant lime trees. The warm sunshine illuminated her face, and the short grass smelled of fresh rain.
Kara looked at her reflection at the glass door and frowned. She looked, well, weird. And different. For one thing, she was wearing ratty pajama pants and a hoodie that she didn't recognize. It was two sizes too big for her with the words THESPIAN CAMP 1986 splashed across it along with a picture of the ancient Greek tragedy and comedy masks. Her hair was greasy and had apparently gotten longer. Her face was covered in soot and grime and she had eyebags. Another thing, she looked. . .older. More mature.
She stood up and looked around. Even though nothing had changed in her home, she could tell something was different. Just like her. It was as if time had freezed here.
The door suddenly opened and Kara startled. But it was only her mom, Rohini. Her chocolate-brown eyes widened as she saw her daughter. Her nose ring winked brightly in the sunlight and her gray-streaked hair was pulled up in a high ponytail. Even though Kara saw her a lot of times this morning, she felt as if she'd been apart from her mom for years.
"Beta, why do you look so dirty? Come on, get cleaned up. It's time for lunch," her mom said, gesturing inside.
Kara nodded. "Okay, I-I'm coming."
As she went inside, thunder boomed and lightning flashed and the sun shone warmly on her face, as if it were welcoming her home.
