The Hideout was one of those places that were easy to describe. You could do it in one word: shithole. There was no better description of it. On the outskirts of Hawkins, built out of whatever materials failed to make it soundproof, the floor was covered in spilt beer and other liquids. The walls were now covered in posters of old performers, but even those were falling apart. Besides the bar, tended by one miserable man named Sunny, there were no tables, let alone any comfortable place to sit.
The stage was big enough for an average-sized (4 people) band to set up their instruments and mic stands.
You, upkeeping the role of "girlfriend of the lead guitarist", joined your "lead guitarist" every Tuesday (whenever you could) to said shithole and hung out with him while he and his friends set everything up. Sunny gave you a discount on the drinks since you were with the band, more or less, so it wasn't half bad.
'How you hanging up?' Eddie walked over to you once he had done his little sound check. The pre-show adrenaline was pumping through him, and you could see it in the way he jumped from leg to leg once near you.
'Tired, honestly,' you were always honest to each other. Eddie nodded and pulled you into a hug.
'You don't have to stay, if you don't want to. I already appreciate it that you came for sound check.'
'No, I want to be here, just don't think anything of it if I start yawning during Rogue Morgue.' You let your chin rest against his chest, looking up at him into his eyes. Even in the dim light of the room, you could see how warm the brown in them was.
'Of course, just you don't think anything of it if I start yawning during it,' he chuckled, and you smiled sheepishly along, knowing how that was one of Eddie's least favourite songs to play.
'Will you play Iron Man?' you asked a bit later.
'I'm not sure,' Eddie mumbled. You were still holding each other close, now swaying from side to side. Though, you pulled back a little bit at his answer to get a better look at him.
'Oh c'mon, I love how you play it.'
'We'be played it a million times already!' he went into defence mode, but so did you, and you were ready to win the battle.
'I thought you liked Black Sabbath,' to prove your point, you poked the patch on his denim vest with the band's logo. Eddie rolled his eyes playfully.
'Yeah, so I also like all their other songs. Seriously, sweetheart, I got you to listen to some of their other stuff.'
'Maybe so, but I like Iron Man, so, please,' you extended your please until he finally gave in with a smile:
'Ok, ok. Fine. But I'll have to talk to the rest since we hadn't really planned for it tonight.'
'That's fine,' at that moment, some familiar faces walked into the venue, 'I got company. Go.' You broke the embrace, much to both of your disappointment, and as Eddie turned around to head back to the stage, you faced to greet your friends. Robin and Steve walked in side by side, the former more excited than the latter. Steve mostly looked... confused. You didn't blame him; you knew how little he knew of... everything, pretty much. But you also were aware of how happy he was to come to support Eddie when you mentioned the band's show once when you were visiting the video store.
