Y/N was chaperoning at the school disco, she was mainly there to serve the kids drinks and just keep an eye on them all but she didn't mind. After the last couple of months everyone had been through they definitely deserved to have some fun. Y/N was getting picked up by her boyfriend Steve Harrington— the pair had only been dating for three months and it took them both by surprise by how much they had in common and how much they liked each other so they decided to give the relationship a go.
"Come on Dustin I have also have to pick up Y/N!" Steve shouted to Dustin from inside his car as Dustin said goodbye to his mother before rushing over to the car, the two drove to Y/N's house and she was waiting on the doorstep for Steve to pick her up, when Steve saw what Y/N was wearing he smiled to himself

"Hey guys!" She beamed as she got in the back of the car since Dustin was sitting up front with Steve, "Wow I'm loving the hair Dustin."
"Thanks Y/N." Dustin smiled
"You're wearing the dress." Steve said to Y/N and she smiled to herself
"What? This old thing?" She joked which made Steve laugh a little— the dress that Y/N was actually wearing was the very same dress that she wore when she actually met Steve for the first time and he couldn't take his eyes off her. Once the group pulled up to the school Steve turned to Dustin
"Alright buddy, here we are." Steve said "So remember, once you get in there—"
"Pretend like I don't care." Dustin finished his friends sentence
"Pretend like you don't care." Steve confirmed,
"You seriously gave him that advice?" Y/N asked her boyfriend in shock
"That's great advice." Steve said
"I hope you didn't use that advice when we first met." Y/N scoffed,
"No of course I didn't, I definitely cared what you thought of me." Steve smiled at his girlfriend who just rolled her eyes. Dustin then got out of the car and walked up the school steps so he could go inside to the dance. Y/N also got out of the car and started to follow him "Hey! Where do you think you're going?" Steve called out to his girlfriend who turned around and walked back over to him and leaned through the passenger window. She kissed him with a smile but he didn't want to let her go "Have fun okay? And don't dance with anyone." Steve said
"Steve they're all under the age of fourteen I'm not exactly going to fall in love with them." Y/N retorted
"No you better not, I'll pick you up at eleven." Steve reminded her before she walked inside to help out at the dance. Steve watched his girlfriend walk away gracefully and he couldn't help but admire how beautiful she looked.
As the night went on Y/N was helping Nancy with the drinks while chatting away to her, a romantic song started to play and everyone paired off together and started to sway to the music, even Max and Lucas were dancing together which Y/N found so adorable. The song was still playing when she noticed Dustin sitting on the bleachers all by himself so she frowned and approached him.
"Hey." She said casually
"Hey." Dustin replied as he wiped tears away from his eyes which broke Y/N's heart
"Wanna dance?" She asked him
"What?" He replied
"Come on, let's go." Y/N took hold of Dustin's hand and pulled him to the centre of the gymnasium floor where the two of them swayed together, of course she was doing this out of pity but Dustin meant a lot to Steve— and Steve meant a lot to Y/N so she was doing this for him as well as Dustin. "You know, out of all of Steve's friends you're my favourite."
"Really?" Dustin smiled brightly
"You've always been my favourite." she continued to say, Y/N then looked to her a left and saw the girl who turned Dustin down for a dance so Y/N simply just stuck her middle finger up at her and the girl stormed off with her friends making both Dustin and Y/N laugh together.
As the night came to a close Dustin and Y/N stepped outside waiting for Steve to come pick them both up, it was a cold winters night and Y/N was starting to feel it on her skin. Dustin took off his jacket and put it around her shoulders and Y/N smiled— obviously the jacket was too small but it was the thought that counted most. Eventually Steve turned up and the pair got into his car this time Y/N sat up front.
"Is that Dustin's jacket?" Steve asked
"I was cold." Y/N replied simply before passing the jacket back to Dustin over the car seats, when Steve had dropped Dustin back home he thanked Y/N for a good night before running inside his house, "Don't ever give out advice again."
"What do you mean?" Steve asked while driving back to his place
"Dustin was left on his own while everyone had a partner to dance with, I found him crying to himself on the bleachers so I stepped in and asked him to dance with me." Y/N explained,
"You danced with Henderson?"
"He means a lot to you Steve I can tell, which means he means a lot to me." Y/N told Steve who smiled at his girlfriend. The two got out of his car and walked up the drive to his front door
"This is why I love you Y/N. You care about everyone." Y/N didn't think Steve was thinking when he opened his mouth because the two had never told each other they they love one another— sure they knew it they just never said it.
"I love you too Steve." Y/N said
"You what?" He asked
"You just told me you love me, and I replied saying I love you too, which I do obviously." Y/N said to him, Steve kissed Y/N lovingly with his arms around her waist
"I think it's time that dress comes off don't you?" Steve teased and Y/N laughed before nodded her head as the two hurried into Steve's bedroom where they couldn't keep their hands off each other for the rest of the night.
