*Months Later*

"Alice!" I called into the backyard.

"Yes?" She asked, picking up the stick she'd been throwing to Black Hayate.

"Dinner's ready!"

She stood up and started running to the porch, then under the arm I was holding the door open with.

It was my day off and I was babysitting Alice while Marie and Jeremy were out on a date. She came over at 5:00 and I was to watch her until tomorrow morning.

"It smells great, Riza." She smiled up at me as she sat at the table.

"I hope it tastes just as good." I smiled back at her.

"Is that steak I smell?" Roy asked, as he walked inside.

"Roy!" Alice jumped out of her seat and ran at Roy excitedly. He kneeled down so she could hug him.

"Hey, how've you been, kiddo?" He asked.

"I've been great! Riza said I could help her make dessert!" She was practically glowing.

"Alright, well, let's go eat dinner so you two can get to that." He smiled as he stood up and put his trench coat on the coat hanger.

I made mashed potatoes and gravy with steak and peas. For dessert, Alice and I were going to make brownies then at 10:00 it was her bedtime, if she could even keep herself up that late. With how wired she is right now though, I bet she could.

Alice sat on the island so she was tall enough to see what I was doing.

I talked her through it and let her scoop the things out of the bags and things like that. When things needed mixing I let her do it until the mixture became really thick and hard for her to work with.

We put it in the oven and settled down on the couch, Alice sat in Roy's lap and Hayate sat next to me.

She yawned and rested her head against his chest. After a couple minutes we saw that she was asleep.

"Well, she'll have to sleep on the couch so," I stood up and got Hayate down. "Let's put her to bed."

I picked her up off of Roy's lap and he stared at the sleeping beauty in awe.

"You'd be a cute dad, you know." I whispered as I laid her down, placing a blanket over her.

"I could say the same about you being a mom." He stood up and he followed me into the kitchen so I could get the brownies out of the oven.

They were the perfect balance of chewy and crunchy, I made note to save some for Marie and Jeremy.

"You know, I should make these for Elicia and Mrs. Hughes don't you think?" The nostalgic memory of Maes made me smile and Roy nodded.

"I think that'd be nice."

"We were never too close, but I'm sure we could get there by trading recipes and things like that. You know, mom stuff." I paused "Though I'm not a mom I'm really starting to feel like one." I chuckled. "I think almost every day off I've had was with Alice and you know, I really can't say I mind."

"Well, I have no doubt that when the time comes you'll truly be a great mother." He stood up and leaned over, kissing my forehead.

"Here, I'll help you clean up." He said, then filled the sink with hot water.

The next morning Roy and I finished getting ready for work early so we would have time to make a nice breakfast for the three of us.
