17 Signs that you’re In a Bad Relationship

1. He Suddenly Seems More Distant

If he's gone cold, then something's wrong. But it might be school or family problems, so before you assume it's another girl, ask him what's on his mind.

2. He Snaps at You for No Good Reason

Did he lose his temper just because you mentioned one of his female friends or asked him what he did on Thursday? It's probably because he's got a guilty conscience, and instead of coming clean, he's getting defensive.

3. He's Getting All Soviet Union on You

If he's being extra secretive about stuff - like by changing his online passwords or flipping out when you try to look over his shoulder - and he's never acted that way before, he's probably hiding something.

4. He Changes His Style

If he does something drastic with his hair or clothing, well, maybe he just wants to see what he looks like with a fauxhawk...or maybe he's trying to impress someone new.

5. He Makes Up Lame Excuses for not hanging out with you

If he's visited more than two grandmas in the past year, something's up. This doesn't give you the right to cross-examine him every time he goes 12 hours without seeing you, but if his lame excuses become a habit, it's for reason.

6. He Cheated on his Last Girlfriend

The saying "once a cheater, always a cheater" isn't necessarily true, but if he's been disrespectful to girls in the past, there's no reason why he wouldn't disrespect you, too.

7. He Told You He Wants to See Other People

If he says this phrase to you, then it's guaranteed that he's got an "other person" in mind. Don't try to work out some friends-with-benefits deal with him. If you want an exclusive relationship, then you shouldn't settle for anything less

.

8. You've Been Hurt in Any Way

This is the only reason for breaking up that's totally unconditional. If your sweetie has been hurting you in any way - physically or emotionally - you must get out.

9.You're More Sad Than Happy

Relationships aren't going to be all roses all the time, but they should bring a little joy to your life. If things are too frustrating or depressing and they're not balanced out by any good moments, get out while you still can.

10. You're Doing All the Work

If you're the one who's been making all the phone calls, planning all the dates and planting all the kisses, then you're not getting what you need out of this relationship (namely: some love in return for all your hard work). There's a good chance your sweetie wants out but is too chicken to break up with you. Take the reins and do it yourself (as usual).

11. You've Been Cheated On

Once the trust is gone, there's no good reason to stay in a relationship. Besides, you deserve better than someone who can't keep it together enough to stay loyal to you.

12. You Can't Stop Thinking About Your Ex

Maybe you didn't give yourself enough time to get over your ex before dating again, or maybe you'll never be that into your current sweetie, regardless of the timing. Either way, it's not fair to date somebody while you're pining so hard for somebody else. Break up, and either try things again with your ex or hold off till you meet someone even better.

13. Your Friends are Rallying Against Your Relationship

A lone friend who's upset about your relationship might just be acting out of jealousy - but when all your friends are saying it, you should probably listen. They might be seeing something that you're too blinded by love to see yourself. This isn't a reason to break up right away, but at least talk to your friends and take their warnings seriously.

14. You've Cheated

If you cheat, it's a sign that you'd rather be single. Don't do your partner any favors by sticking it out. The sooner you break up, the less you'll both get hurt in the long run.

15. You Just Feel Like It's Time to Move On

You don't need any real, concrete reasons to break up, as long as you feel it in your gut. Just explain to your sweetie that things have changed and that you want to be single again. It won't be easy to do, but it'll be a whole lot better than staying in a relationship long after it's worth your while.

16. All He Wants to Do is Make Out

Don't get me wrong - kissing is great.  But relationships are also about getting to know each other better and having good, clean fun.  If your boyfriend has no interest in any one-on-one activities besides hooking up, then don't kid yourself:  he doesn't really want to be your boyfriend.  He just wants to be your makeout partner.

17. He Tries to Force You to Go Further Than You Want to Go

Once you've made it clear that you don't want to go any further physically (and you should always make it clear), your boyfriend should know to stop immediately.  If he tries to push past your limit just once, he's not respecting you like a good boyfriend should.
