Chapter 1
How It All Started
One day, Detective Tristan Harris woke up in his cozy apartment with his cat, Cosmo lying on his chest, and his wife, still asleep next to him. He got up slowly trying to make the least amount of noise possible to not wake Cassandra.
As he was brushing his teeth, he vaguely heard the news on the Tv say something about an emergency weather warning, but the sound was muffled by the heavy blockade of a bathroom door and the running sink.
After brushing his teeth, he got dressed in a casual coat and jeans with a nice-looking shirt underneath. He went back to pet Cosmo. But as soon as he got out of the bathroom, he noticed Cassandra standing with a smirk. "Gonna say goodbye before I leave for my big trip?" Tristan fixed his posture. "Of course! How could I forget?" Tristan said as he walked toward her. After that situation, he made his way out the door and down the hall, and into the lot.
As he got to his car, the whole building seemed off, like they were prepared for the worst. All of the cars were gone except for his and Cassandra's. The whole building seemed off Almost apocalyptic, like that one book series he read as a kid where a zombie invasion happened and the whole town was empty and a few kids had to survive and later on save the world. He knew something was wrong at that point
And normally he would ask around, but then he would arrive late to the meeting.
So he hurried into his car and quickly made his way out of the parking lot and sped off, away from his hometown, Remix Avenue. He drove on and on until he arrived in the parking lot of the large headquarters in New DukeTown. The whole city was rebuilt better than it was before due to it burning down via freak accident and a scientist let a test subject go and it went on a rampage. He had to take care of that with his partner too. He noticed he had some free time due to him arriving early so he hopped out of his car, set a timer on his phone for twenty minutes, and walked away to browse what the DukeTown market had to offer that day.
He went to the aisle first. The isle had many shops going down so he made sure to stop by the ATM to snag some cash.
He went down and browsed the aisle until he found this wonderful-looking machete made from titanium. It was expensive but he bought it anyway. Could come in handy in sticky situations.
He knew it would prove useful with his added two years of swordsman training. So with most of his cash already gone, he noticed he was running out of time so he started walking back to his car when he noticed he needed a phone charger. He bought one and continued. He got to the building and his timer went off. "Right on time."
Chapter 2
The incident
He heard a wild rumbling noise, like an avalanche, he saw the giant green wall of light rampaging towards him so he bolted down in the opposite direction. Doesn't seem like there's any way around it. I either embrace it or continue to run. So he kept running away from the rushing light, leaping from roof to roof, but it soon caught up to him with his depleting stamina, and everything was gone. Sight, touch, smell, hearing, everything. Everything went dark and he heard a determined voice say "Wake up, it's time for adventure."
