"Hey Shawn quick question, out of all the females in the office who would you take down?"

Asked Sebastian and Joey, both eager to hear the response.

You see it was the guys break and for whatever reason this conversation always came up. I don't know why but their curiosity always makes them ask that same question. As if my mind is gonna change from one day to the next. Who would I smash from work? Tuh.

There are about a good 12 females on our floor and out of those 12 I'd probably take down about 3. And that's pushing it. Don't get me wrong all the girls at the office are gorgeous inside and out but, I don't know, some intimidate me, yeah I guess that's the word I would use. I'm the type of person that likes to get to know whoever it is I'm pursuing. So I always friend zone myself before I decide if I like you and if I want to be with you. When the time comes man you gotta be careful because I will sweep you off your feet like theres no tomorrow. You won't even know that I'm charming you. Hell I won't know that I'm charming you, haha, that's how good I am. Okay okay I'm starting to sound cocky, I promise that's not me, I just know how I am and yeah lets leave it at that.

"So are you going to answer today or you just going to stand there like you didn't hear us" Ask Sebastian and Joey.

"I give you guys the same answer every single time. I figure if I ignore you now and continue ignoring you from here on out you'll stop asking the damn question"

Sebastian: "We ask you almost everyday because we feel you're lying to us. We see the connection you and Sage have although she's never on your list.

We're supposed to be a family, you know --- not hide anything, so tell us already what's going on."

Shawn : "Bro I promise nothing's going on between Sage and myself. Like don't get me wrong she's gorgeous but she's just not my type. That's even if I were to have type.

My list once again, I'd take down Diamond in a heartbeat and Ciara"

The thing with Sage is that everyone at work has a crush on her. Male and female, she's the "it" girl. And personally, I don't want to add on to the number of people. Plus like I said before I have to get to know the person inside and out before I make the decision of persuing them or not, that's one. Two, Diamond's already claiming me around the office as "the one" and I can't front she beautiful too.

Diamond was seen as the number two, I guess you can say. Well not necessarily the number two, that's a bit harsh. Lets put it this way, if you didn't like Sage you liked Diamond. If you didn't like Diamond you liked Sage or both for that matter.

From day one of my friendship with Diamond the sexual tension tension was through the roof. It was so high to the point that we'd just look at one another and we pratically had sex right then and there. Shit was intense.

And to make things just a tad more interesting everyone was involved with one or two more people outside of work. Complicated was an understatement to say the least. None the less the chemistry was there. Back to the story.

The phone rings. "Saved by the bell, sorry guys I have to get this" I say with the only smirk on my face. "Our break is done anyway but this isn't over Shawn. There's no way you can be that oblivious to the obvious" Sebastian insists. I wave them off so they can get the point of leaving.

"Ah finally some peace and quiet" The phone rings again. "Hello Burke and Company, Shawn speaking what can I do for you?"

"Shawn, its Diamond I need your help with something can you come to my cubicle"

Oh Lord, what can she possibly want? I haven't done anything. Well today anyway.

"Shawn you there?" asks Diamond

"Yeah .... Yeah I'm coming just .... give .... me .... one more .... second. I'm saving this document, I'm coming now"

I start walking over to Diamond's desk and realize everything is really quiet. Like extremely quiet. Everyone is actually working today, such a beautiful sight. When I finally get to her desk she's not there.

"Is she for real right now, how you call me and leave?!" I say to myself

Diamond pops up behind me "So we talk to ourselves now? You talking shit?" 

"Always" I reply. "Whats up though? What do you need help with my love?"

"Nothing really. I'm bored and I wanted to talk to someone who has some sense in this office. Then I realized Sage was off so I called you." 

The way that just rolled off her tongue, so effortlessly like she meant it. She had been planning to say that all day it seemed, by the grin on face. 

"Ohhh word!" I reply jokingly .... "You're right though haha. So whats going on? How's life? ..... How are things with wifey?"

She took the only pause. "...... Wifey? ...... Who's that?" she asked with the sarcasm spewing from her pours. "I don't have a wifey .... But I'm trying to see what's up with you"

"Diamond stop playing with me, because we both know it ain't nothing but a g thang ... So what's up" I respond, as I mean forward. "You got game for days but can never close the deal" I laugh. "We're going to have to work on that if you gonna be out here not claiming "wifey" and getting these bitties. .... What happened with Gina anyway?"

Her face went from a slight smile to the hardest eye roll I had ever seen in my life. "Your eyes are gonna get stuck like that, swear to God"

Diamond laughs then sighs. "I'm just tired Shawn. I give her my all and I feel like it's never enough and to top it off I know she doesn't care. I don't ask for much. Do I?" she looks at me for confirmation. Before I could answer she continues. "I would like some attention from the person I'm suppose to be in a relationship with. If I call you and I know for sure you're not at work don't lie to me. I have eyes everywhere. People tell me things"

As Diamond continues to speak, my mind stayed on the fact that she said "I have eyes everywhere" that right there made her sound a bit crazy. But I mean every girl wants that, well in my opinion anyway. And it's something that isn't hard to give them. Why lie about where you are or who you're with if you're not doing anything wrong. That's why I think I'm a different breed.

"Am I right Shawn? Like I legit talk to you more now than I do her"

"I personally don't see that as a bad thing. I'm tryna take you out girl" I say jokingly (but not really). She smiles "Thats the beautiful smile I like to see"

Diamond: "I mean you're right; it isn't a bad thing you're a good listener and you make me laugh ..... BUT don't get too hype .... Hahaha."

Shawn: "Yeah ok. That's why you're still blushing though right? You don't have to deny it. I tend to have that affect on people, especially you apparently."

While she sits there and tries to think of a rebuttal I catch myself just staring at her lips. I look her up and down and get caught up in her eyes.

Diamond: "What are you looking at?"

Shawn: "You"

Diamond: "Why?"

Shawn: "I can't look at you? I can't admire the beauty that stands before me?"

Diamond starts to blush crazy but neither of us can seem to look away. "This is weird." she says.

"What's weird?" I reply

"You .... Me .... This whole .... "connection" we have. We only met literally a month and like 2 weeks ago"

"Agreed" I say. "I might low-key, on the real low low-key be developing a tiny crush on you ... And that in itself is not a good thing."

Diamond: "Why isn't it a good thing?"

Shawn: "You know why my love .... We're both in extremely complicated situations. Even if I wanted to I couldn't do anything I'm not that type of person."

But boy did I want to. "Man, I REALLY want to" I thought to myself.
