A New Life

Prologue

The Organization XIII's defeat helpedthe world of the light but as each member fell their consciousnesswaited for the others, at this point they believed they were dead andwere forever forced to live in a waking dream surrounded by darknessforever. Some members panicked while others merely thought this wasrequired but as Xemnas' essence was removed from his physical form ablinding light was all the members could process, until they woke uplaying at the end of a street, a tall building expanding from thesidewalk. A few people were standing up within a minute, others weresitting but one was still laying on their front, Xigbar was stilltrying to understand what happened as he tried to hardest to feelmore than just pressure on his skin. As he tried to push himself uponly to feel his body buckle, a low whine was pushed out causing afew members to rush to help him. The first pair of hands that landedon him was a Demyx, who helped shift the sniper's body onto his backthe calm look was a little eerie as it was an abnormal expectationthe kid held. "Shit, he's bleeding..." Axel spoke before Xaldinspoke in a tight voice. "Can we use your abilities?" Demyx lookedat the lancer before looking back down at the pained sniper beforespeaking slowly. "Let's check..." At this point, most of themembers were watching Demyx who now had Xigbar's torso laying againsthis lap, and holding him up with one arm. Xigbar felt strange asDemyx's other hand lay on his chest, the red liquid started todisappear from the fabric before Demyx sighed, knowing his poweralone was not enough. "Vexen..." His voice was tense as he triedto maintain control. "Little help?" He said pulling a playfulsmile on as he looked at him. Vexen didn't react to the nymph's lookas he looked off as he walk closer to the two, a hand hovered overthe nymph only for him to look confused, in the past it work butnothing happened, causing Demyx to look confused. "maybe it'sthought touch now?" Demyx whispers so only the scientist couldhear, this got a Vexen to place a gloved hand where Demyx's handtouched the sniper only for it to only make Demyx yelp. "It's toowarm..." Vexen muttered before he sighed and pulled the glove off,placing a hand on a ragged piece of fabric that exposed Xigbar'sskin, within seconds Xigbar had his back against the wall of thebuilding, a good amount of distance away from the othermembers.
Demyx smiled largely as Vexen stood up and fixed hisglove only for Xemnas to speak. "Where are we? I thought once wewere killed we would die..." He was watching Vexen to glared theman down before shrugging. "Through all my studies I never foundevidence of what would happen..." He trailed off as he saw a girlrunning down the road to them.
She had brown eyes and hair thatwas cut short and she held an exciting look as she got close. "Iknew it!" She said happily, the group looked at her as she lookedat the building. "I can't explain most questions you might have butwould you mind if we also step into your place?" Everyone wasconfused before Xigbar spoke up as he just looked at her. "Wait,our place?" HE eyed the building before he heard her chuckle. "Yes,since this building appeared close to if not at the same time y'alldid, the understanding if this place is that you own it, I can gointo details once we get inside its just a storm is on its way and Idon't want to get rained on." The organization looked around beforeXigbar spoke again and opened the door of the building. "Stopgawking and come on..." Everyone was a little confused at thestatement from the sniper before he braced himself on the door frame,most figured he was grumpy from not feeling good.
Once inside andthey found a room with thirteen chairs around a table, the girlsmiled as she walked to the front of the room, seeing a high-tech setup of computers and a large screen. "This is wonderful!" Shebeamed as Xemans spoke up as Xigbar flopped in a chair before layinghis head down on the table. "You know, most people would thinktwice before coming into a strange new building with a group ofpeople dressed in black cloaks..." She chuckled as she messed withthe electronics. "Most people are me and..." She paused as sheglared him down, something off-putting in her stair. "If you tryanything it might go bad..." Xemans looked worried as he watchedlooked over at Saix who looked unnerved at her look. "Now!" Shestarted as she stood up and looked over the group. "Please take aseat and I can explain the basics, after that, I will try to answerany questions I can." She spoke before seeing the group taking achair though some took a long time to make sure not to sit next toothers.
Around the table start to the left of the female wasLarxene, Marluxia, Luxord, Xaldin, Demyx, Xigbar, Lexeaus, Vexen,Zexion, Axel, Saix, and Xemnas. "Welcome to Heart United, my nameis Niko, and something like a mayor or something like that for thisworld. This world is a locked realm hidden behind requirements toenter, though that seems to change depending on where you arefrom..." she sighed as she showed a map of the local town. "Thisis the current town you are in, it's called Hearts United Base butmost just call it the Hub, this was the first location that formedthis world." He paused as she eyed the group, no one was trying toask about the explanation of what 'the world' meant before changingto the next part.
She explained about the town and world historyalong with some of the common programs that they had to allownewcomers to integrate into the world. After about thirty minutes ofgoing over the world, she paused and looked off. Demyx spoke up as henoticed the look she had was sad. "Are you okay?" His tone wasworried and sweet making her look at him. "I'm alright justremembered something. Unfortunately, if you had goals to leave thisworld and return to where ever you came from, no one has found a wayout, most people that show up here don't mind but others strugglewith the people they lost." Demyx gave a sympathetic look at herbefore she looked at the group. "Any of you have someone you leftbehind?" Each member looked at each other before Xigbar started tosnicker. "I doubt it..." His head was between his arms andresting on the table. "We were the 'bad' guys before showing uphere..." Xemans looked irritated at him before looking shocked atthe girl when she laughed. "A lot of people came from differentbackgrounds here, if people cared about where someone came from orwhat they are then this world would not exist anymore. Now, for yourquestions..." She started only to see that a few of them gestured,she was used to people just asking. "Oh, wow... y'all really musthave been some organization or business group" Xigbar shifted hishead and looked at her before sitting up and smirking at Xemnas. "Ihad a few questions..." Demyx started before he shifted in hisseat. "Who owns this building? What is it exactly?" She smiled asshe pulled a program up and it showed the building's blueprints. "Youand your group own this building. Based on the layout it looked likean apartment complex with a few public spaces but the ground floorhad a few business-like rooms like this one and something like anoffice?" She said looking over the layout. "It also looks likethere are apartments for each of you, even had names of each one..."She said before Xigbar appeared next to her, looking over thecomputer.
Everyone got worried as it might not be common forpeople to do that but she just looked at him and laughed. "Oh, wow!I don't think I've never seen a teleport before..." She moved tolet him look over the device before Xemnas asked a question. "Whatkind of currency do you have and will this building cost anything tokeep?" She smiled as she pulls a thin device out of her bag. "Weuse a unique currency that is fully digital, you can access it with adevice like this..." She held up an armband she was wearing. "Wehave a lot of variety about the device you use to access yourcurrency. As for the building the only thing you will have to worryabout is a payment for the power, we do have programs to reduce howmuch you pay using alternative sources of energy but the cost of themis higher at first." She paused and looked over the device she washolding. "But that all can be discussed later in town, I can leaveyou will any information you want about programs in town but I willneed everyone to visit the town hall in a few hours." She paused asshe started tapping the device. "Now most groups that get here hadsomeone that takes care of most issues for the housing, if that issomething y'all agree with then just inform me when you get to thetown hall." She looked around before placing a large packet ofpapers on the table before getting panicked. "I'm sorry, I know youmight have more questions but unfortunately I seem to be running lateto a meeting. There is a number to the town hall if you need anyquestions right away."
No one had an issue with her leavingas she was late and they started talking in small groups abouteverything. Xemans held a mini-meeting after everyone looked over thepapers and he talked with Xigbar about something. Most of it wasabout just making sure everyone understood the information, a littleof it was about the apartments for each of them and the last part wasa vote to decide who would be the ones dealing with the building,which somehow became tried between Saix and Xigbar After everythingwas designed they headed out to the town hall.

Theorganization went through personal conversations with office workersand was given a set of currency with the device they picked forthemselves before sighing paperwork for the building and Niko raninto them. She was thrilled to inform them that the shops are stillopen if they want to get a new look

 and suggested they check out one ofthree restaurants they went their ways after leaving and eachexplored the town.

The organization members slowly got used tothe town and how it worked including most finding a place to work orgetting approval for personal work if they desire. Xemans ended upmaking the lower floors of the building into a small business thatimported items from town to town, and Saix ended up taking care oflocal business and running the building with the help of Lexeaus, whowas in charge of the repair of electronics and appliances in theapartments, and Xaldin, who keeps stock of items within theapartments and budgets payment for the items.
Four of them work intown, Vexen helps out with the local museum's science programteaching others different things he knows about, Zexion works in thetown's library along with helping the museum out with somerestoration projects of older works of literature, Luxord workafternoons and nights at one of the local bars, and Larxene foundwork in a coffee shop that is close by to the apartments.
Everyoneelse but Xigbar has personal jobs that were approved by the mayor,Axel joined a band of performers that uses tricks and abilities toexcite patrons around the local area, and Demyx is an independentsongwriter that performed in the town square and park from time totime and Marluxia was a home grown gardener as his ability helps withgrowing plants and sells flowers on days Demyx is preforming.

Thegroup started new friendships with each other and new people in townand slowly each member noticed they were not the same person asbefore becoming a nobody, at first it was a small thing but as timewent each noticed big things, some hid the changes and othersembraced them as this world was for starting anew. A month turnedinto three before time rushed on until it had been a little over ayear since they arrived.

Now that they realized they lookedand think differently, how will this affect their personalrelationships with each other, and will the true them for the onesthat hide come to light?
