"Please go away, Hyun." Seulgi pushes Joohyun off of her, still angry from their heated argument earlier. "Seul, I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said," Joohyun pleads.
Her girlfriend ignores her. She knows Seulgi can hold a grudge forever and does everything she can to make it up to her.
Maybe she overstepped the line this time.
Seulgi was upset over Joohyun exploding, saying that it wasn't her fault. She couldn't control how moody and annoying Seulgi could become.
"Why were you late coming home again?" Seulgi asked once more, "I was working late! I always do, you know that."
Joohyun was frustrated with all the questions, although that's only partially true.
"Why are you so concerned about where I am when you know almost every night I come home late because of my schedules??" she reasons, further angering Seulgi.
"I'm like this because I have to worry every night whether or not you're going to come home!" Seulgi tosses a pillow.
"You don't have to! It's not like I have anywhere else to go." Seulgi grips her hair, irritated.
She wasn't going to listen to this anymore. Leaving the room, Joohyun followed her, "Where are you going?"
"Away from you. Stop following me. Gosh, I can't even look at you right now!"
"It's not my fault that you can't control your emotions. You're so annoying," she huffs. Seulgi looks back at her.
"Oh, so I'm annoying now? All I've ever given you was love." Joohyun realizes what slipped out of her mouth. "No, that's not what I meant."
"What did you mean, Irene? That I was somehow a horrible girlfriend to you?? Why is it that everything I do for you never seems to be enough?"
Joohyun listened but didn't want Seulgi to twist her words. "It is, Seulgi, I just-"
Seulgi pushed her away as she tried to step closer. "Just stop, Joohyun. Don't make this any worse. Please." The bedroom door was slammed in her face.
Damn.
"Seulgi, just let me explain myself," she tries again from the other side of the door. Joohyun could hear a scoff. "Come on, Seulgi, you know I'm nothing without you."
"No." Joohyun knew Seulgi wanted her to chase after her, so she cluelessly did so. "If I'm so annoying, why are you still trying?"
Seulgi took very good care of her after her long days at work. She was there when Joohyun needed somebody to lean on.
And she gave her all of the desired attention when she asked for it. "Because I can't live without you." Seulgi perks up. Joohyun's voice gets quieter.
She couldn't leave Joohyun to her lonesome, but she was supposed to be angry at her.
"Please." she was concerned that her girlfriend was silently crying, "You're not annoying. You're far too good to me."
Seulgi wondered if she should forget about what she said and coddle her.
No.
This was the reason why they argued. Joohyun thought she was too worried about her.
Unlocking and slowly opening the door, she found Joohyun curled into a ball on the ground.
They made brief eye contact until Seulgi walked away. The door was now wide open, and Joohyun didn't miss the opportunity to seat herself at the foot of the bed.
"What did you want to say?" Seulgi asks, back facing Joohyun. "I-well, I didn't mean to call you annoying. You're more than annoying." the latter stuttered uncontrollably.
"So, what am I, then? A laughingstock?" Joohyun grumbled in defeat.
"You begged me to let you explain yourself, and I did. Now, you can't think of what to say?" Seulgi pushed the blankets off of her.
"No, I can't think of the right phrasing. I don't want to repeat the wrong thing. Not after my stupid outburst."
Seulgi calmed down. At least Joohyun was trying to be considerate with her now. "If I'm not annoying, then why did you say it?" Seulgi's voice was trembling.
She tried hard not to show her vulnerable side, but she wanted to know why Joohyun offended her like that.
"I don't know. I wasn't thinking. You're anything but that, Seul. I just love you so much," Joohyun confesses.
"I'm sorry. If you want the bed for yourself tonight, I'll gladly sleep on the couch?" she continues. Seulgi didn't spare her another word.
Seulgi hums in agreement. Joohyun grabs an extra blanket from their closet and goes into the living room. No goodnights were exchanged.

Joohyun was wide awake and sure that Seulgi was sleeping just fine without her.
But Seulgi was struggling just as much as Joohyun, and feeling the empty spot beside her made her feel desolate.
"Seulgi?" Joohyun called her name. The blanket from earlier was wrapped tightly around her body.
"Yeah?"
Joohyun reluctantly entered the dark room.
"Can I lay with you? I can't sleep, not without you." Seulgi's heart raced. "Of course." Joohyun joined her in the bed, lying opposite her.
Seulgi engulfed her in her chest, taking in the sweet moment as her girlfriend gently lay next to her. She felt the tension wash away.
She was relieved that she no longer needed to sleep alone.
"I was beginning to wonder whether you would come back or not. I was hoping I didn't have to sleep alone all night." Joohyun looks up at her.
"Then, why did you let me sleep on the couch?" Seulgi only smiles back, leaving her feeling perplexed.
"I was supposed to be mad at you, but how could I turn you away when you looked adorable standing in the doorway?" Joohyun grins.
Seulgi rested her chin on the crown of Joohyun's head, holding her as close as possible.
"I'm sorry." Joohyun whispered, kissing Seulgi softly before resting in her arms. "It's alright," Seulgi assured.
She delicately caressed her head and planted one more kiss on her head as she entangled their legs under the covers.
"I'll hold you forever."
