Bouquets of scarlet artistry
glitter on the doorstep as I pass.
Scintillating and effervescent. I smell
the nascent roses returning life
and vivacity to our loveless garden.
The weeds of old
vacant love insipidly shrivel, yet blossoms
of youthful infatuation effloresce. They did not need to love each other.
The light-haired boy and bright-eyed girl.
Yet there they walk: past the garden
of nascent roses, the flowers
unapologetically in bloom. Golden,
tree-covered hills in the vicinity. They walk.
Hand in hand. Along their gravel path. Infectiously enamored of one another.
Because first love always returns.A love of their own—
to gently replenish our
heart and our spirit.
