Junie Jones had been friends with Farkle Minkus since she met him in middle school after he had proposed his love for her in the hallway, and was very gently turned down by Junie, who had told him that her mother said she couldn't date until she was 45.

Farkle had only nodded in response and told her that he'd be waiting for the day her 45th birthday would arrive, so he could finally make her his.

Junie then told him that she didn't have romantic feelings for the boy, which led him to reply with a simple 'not yet'.

Junie had only laughed off his response and offered for the two of them to eat lunch together with her two friends, Maya and Riley, in a strictly platonic way. He agreed to what he would secretly always refer to as 'their first date', whether it was only platonic or not.

For years, the two of them, plus their wonderful group of friends, would always stick closely together, never once leaving each behind. They were best friends in many ways. Junie had been one of the first people to ever not make fun of Farkle for his odd personality.

In return, Farkle had always protected Junie as best as he could, even if he wasn't the strongest or toughest guy around, it didn't stop him. Junie was one of the most important people in his life. He would do anything to make sure she was always there.

Junie had almost built a sort of shelter around Farkle when he was younger, one that had, in her own way at least, protected him from the harsh words and actions of the world. She had built him up everytime someone said something bad and made sure he realized how much she cared about him.

Junie hadn't realized the way her feelings shifted for Farkle for a long time. Once she finally had noticed, she didn't waste time in telling him how she felt, even if it was almost too late.
