"Why are we always at the mall? Are you like one of those girls that are obsessed with the mall or some shit." I feel like I'm walking extra slow, because she walks like that, but her legs are a lot shorter than mine. I open the door to Nordstrom.
"Thanks, and NOO... I'm NOT obsessed with my mall or 'some shit.' And wouldn't you go anywhere with me?"
"Yeah, I would go anywhere with you." Even the mall. I stare down into her greenish brown eyes.
"Ohmygodreally??? Where should we go?!"
"No," I say, laughing. This girl is ridiculous.... But interesting. Entertaining. Kindof wild, unhinged? Or like she has a manic, coiled energy. She seems like a live wire, and I never know what she'll do or say next. Normally, people bore me. Life is boring to me, lately. It's almost Halloween and it's my favorite season - Fall - but, I still don't have my life together, like I would like it to be.
"Anyways, I don't really order stuff online. Like, I've only ordered like a few things online."
"Why?"
"I usually only deal with stuff on a cash-only basis."
Who says stuff like this? I think about when we went to Tyson's Corner mall, with one of her friends and some other random people that her friend invited. That was the first time that we hung out, and she asked me to go to PINK with her to look at underwear. Who does that? She held up a ton of panties and asked what I thought about them, and we laughed at the weird phrases... But, she intrigued me... she's intriguing... sometimes, it seems forced or fake? I don't know - but I can't stop thinking about her.
"Um, what?! Okayy..." We smile at each other and I laugh. "Everyone's looking at you."
"Why wouldn't they?" She says to me in a haughty tone. "But, I hate it though. It's like, if you hate attention, why cause yourself to be a spectacle, with all of your clothes and make-up, I'm sure you're thinking... but it's just always been like that, and I want to be myself."
"Yeah, I remember your outfits and heels in high school."
"Other people don't know me though. They see something they like, and they think that they know me, but they don't. They just make assumptions. It gets very dull, to always be stared at... to feel like I have people glamoured."
"Like a vampire?"
"Yes," she emphatically throws her arms around me, "I'm a vampire, Damien, and I'll suck out your soul!"
I smile down at her. "Don't threaten me with a good time, babe."
"Ugh! You're disgusting!" She pushes me away and laughs.
"I'm just saying..." I raise my eyebrows at her, and she tries to glare at me and pout her lips without laughing, which makes me laugh harder.
