In an interrogation room of the Quantum City police station, Elliot Alexander sits patiently. A policeman enters and throws Elliot's file on the table. Elliot glances at it before making eye contact with the officer. No words are said until he sits down to join him. Elliot is cuffed to the table.

"Is this really necessary?" Elliot asks raising his wrists.

"Yes. Just be glad you're not in supermax. Half the staff are confused why you're here." He then jokes, "I don't even know why I'm here."

"That's funny, but I've read your file."

"What I don't get, is why I'm even being interrogated. I thought I'd be thrown away in a cell for life with no questions asked."

"I wanna hear your side of the story."

"This is cute, but spare me–"

"No, seriously, I want to hear it. There's two sides to every story."

"I figured you'd believe what VAAULT said at the hearing."

The officer laughs. "VAAULT have lied before, so they will lie again."

"Well, I'm glad to meet an officer who is more aware than the average pig... No offence."

"None taken. Now, tell me what happened from the beginning, and please be honest." "Of course."

Elliot smiles as the officer opens the files.

In a Government Lab, Emma, who has now dyed her hair black, is with a Professor in chemistry. Wyatt Weiss. He has ties to VAAULT and the WSC. He is helping her manufacture a new chemical to lower the brains perception of time. They are standing at a giant whiteboard with the current chemical she uses illustrated on the board.

"So, what's wrong with the current one?" Weiss asks.

"My brain is developing a tolerance to it. The effects aren't as strong as they were. I decided it was time for an upgrade."

"Don't get too excited. We don't know if such an upgrade is even possible. I'll need the data from the original composition."

"VAAULT should have it filed away somewhere. I'll get it, though."

"Good. Once we know the chemical make-up of the substance, we can start experimenting. Though, we need to be careful. I don't want to give you permanent brain damage."

"I doubt that will happen. I'm putting all of my faith in your work."

"How much do you know of my work?"

"A good bit. It was only last year I was introduced to your practises. Your achievements made me find a serious interest for Chemistry and Biochem'. I guess, I wanted to know more about what I was putting in my head."

"Oh, really? Glad to know I have a fan. It's not the most exciting discipline out there, but I'm happy to see someone like you enjoying the science."

"Yeah. I'm actually starting university in a couple days."

"And let me guess what your studying... Biochemistry?"

"Also, Physiology. Three-year courses."

"Long journey ahead then."

"It'll be worth it. I'm thinking about maybe becoming a professor myself." "Oh, is that so?"

"Yeah. The idea has been creeping up on me for the past few months."

"And leave the VAAULT theatrics behind? Is there not a contract or something?"

"No, not really. Most agents can leave when they want. They just prefer to work for VAAULT."
