warning: harm and blood
~~~
The moment precluded as the waiter came inside, my tears abruptly moved aback when we were remotely interrupted from our serious conversation. I could see how the waiter's face changed, perhaps feeling ashamed for somehow ruining the momentum. That may have given me the chance to think wisely about a decision I'm going to make any minute. I wanted to jump to it as well, I was sure of what I was going to do. I had no worries at all. I knew what I was going to tell him.
The waiter called in the other staff members as they all carried trays with the variety of foods we ordered earlier. They placed it on the table across ours, it was a long table with the same red velvet cover on it, the dishes were all placed there in a very well arranged manner. From dishes to desserts, it was already there. It was served together so it might have shocked me a little, it was kind of new to me. I got used to having the dishes served first, then a few minutes, it would be the desserts.
As all of them finished fixing the arrangements on the table, they all left in a hurry, aware of what was happening before they even noticed. When we were alone in the room again, I started panting for a reason I couldn't even explain. I didn't even know. I wanted to tell him that I was ready for anything, that I was okay for what ever it is that he has planned as long as he would include my family especially my parents. I wanted to give them the respect they deserved, I want Gaeb to ask for my parents' permission to show how he respects them.
I sat back down and when he saw me as I moved, he followed and did the same thing. He placed his hand on top of the table and I held it as we both looked at each other. Maybe this was time that I start listening to what my gut says, I really like Gaeb and I think there's no harm in giving it a shot. Giving him a chance isn't easy as well, I knew I had to think thoroughly if I really do trust him. In the end, I could proudly conclude that he is worthy of my trust. He is worthy of a chance so he could prove himself.
"You know what Gaeb?" I said, letting my heart do all the talking. Nothing is ever sure, there's no certainty in everything, there will always be a mere portion of it that would make you question the happenings. But if I'm ever sure of something, it's what I feel for him. It's what my heart feels for him. I never thought I could find all of those great traits in one man. He sets the bars high, he is a standard. "It's a yes. You are already a huge part of my life. You deserve the chances you could ever get."
"What?! Really?!" He said in excitement and with his adrenaline rushing. I smiled as I saw how happy it made him. Gaeb stood up and walked towards me, he gave me a huge hug even if I was still sitting down. I could feel his breath on my neck as he stayed like that, hugging me tight. "Thank you Ameelya, I won't let you down. I promise you, I will ask your parents. I know you would want that, too."
After the dinner date I've had with Gaeb, he took me home and I couldn't even sleep that night, I was too caught up in thinking about what happened and all the great and heartwarming things he said about me, it was too unbelievable, it was like I was living in a book. We spent a lot of time together, but after a week he went back to Siargao with his stepfather and Nycho. They were there since it's the hotel's anniversary and there's a party for all of the employees, he invited me but I declined since I wanted to spend time with my parents too.
My dad's case was still under very thorough investigation, they were having trouble trying to figure out who was behind the shooting. They say it must've been about the case my dad was handling, and that the other party tried to get rid of my dad so the case wouldn't go smoothly, maybe because they knew my dad's a great lawyer and soon after, he'd crack the case and win the trial. But that was just one of their assumptions, they're still trying to check the other angles of the case, but they're confident about it. That they'll win, and my dad is still handling the case even if he almost lost his life.
